Located at 16 W. Pacemont Rd. in Clintonville, the salon offers a variety of services −from cutting and coloring to texturizing and hair removal− and works hard to tailor styles to clients’ personalities.

“You want to catch the drummer’s eye during his last set and still be able to lead the presentation on Monday morning when the new clients have just gotten off the plane and are dying to be blown away,” said Angie Hatzifotinos, the salon’s owner. “You need the look that moves with you.”

Jekyll & Hyde is “the place where you can be whatever you want to be and we’ll craft the color and texture to make you a legend,” she adds.

Though the average price of salon services continues to trend upward, Jekyll & Hyde’s stylists have made it their goal to provide world-class hair designs and services at a reasonable cost.

“We do our best to make sure we are giving our clients exactly what they want without the hefty prices, like some of the other local salons,” Hatzifotinos said. “People shouldn’t have to go broke in order to look their best, so we make sure to set our prices 15 to 20 percent lower than other local competitors.”

Hatzifotinos and Darren Hardesty are the salon’s sole stylists, with more than seven and 10 years of experience, respectively.

Hatzifotinos trained at the Aveda Institute Columbus and the Paul Mitchell Academy, and has received additional instruction in straight blade razor cutting. She considers long layering techniques, short men’s cuts, formal styles, highlighting, and protein services her specialties.

Hardesty is a stylist/educator and, when he’s not working at Jekyll & Hyde, he continues to train stylists across the country about a variety of cutting, coloring, texturizing, and styling techniques.

Jekyll & Hyde is appointment-based, but walk-ins are welcome.

The 650-square-foot salon has a waiting area and four styling chairs, and the dual personality theme is even reflected in its décor.

One side of the salon is completely black and white, but the other side is a riot of color thanks to a wall mural painted by Hatzifotinos.

“You’ll leave knowing that you can be Jekyll, you can be Hyde, or you can be both,” Hatzifotinos said. “And we’ll be there for you either way.”
