THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Jason Chang is thinking Japanese.
Chang, who owns the Hunan Lion and two other upscale local Chinese restaurants, plans to open a Japanese steak house, sushi bar and cocktail lounge at Easton.
The new restaurant has been dubbed Kosemi, which translates as “light rain.” It will be located at 3884 Morse Rd. in the former Cooker Restaurant that Chang and his family acquired.
Plans call for state-of-the-art custom hibachi table grills, a theater-style sushi bar and sophisticated lounge area.

Japanese steakhouse planned for Easton

that is music to my ears. Now they just need a Thai place, and i’ll never have to stray from the Easton area for anything again :)
It may be a fake town, but that is definitely some real food. Definitely going to check it out.
i’m excited to hear about this b/c this place is so damn good to eat at. :D its about time there will be one close to where i live!!! i can’t wait and i’m glad that the old Cookers building is not going to waste.
I don’t know about you all, but i miss Cookers. Those biscuits were divine! And i always loved the teryaki chicken with that pinapple slice marinated on top.
cookers will be miss. i loved that placed as well but what can a person do when it has to close? at least they are putting in a great place to eat in that building.
Wait … are *all* Cookers closing? Or just that one?
i know the morse rd is gone as well as the lane ave down on campus. i don’t if there are any more that are open.
:( I used to eat at the Lane Ave. one all the time when I lived in Taylor Tower. What replaced it?
I thought some OSU themed place did.
Haven’t been there.
All Cookers closed; the company went into bankruptcy I’m pretty sure. That’s when they did that redesign, but that didn’t work and they all closed.
Yeah, all the Cookers closed quite awhile ago actually – all of them in the area that I know of all closed up shop about the same time – a couple people who worked at the one on Lane that I knew said that even the managers didn’t know about it in advance – folks just showed up to work one day and found the building padlocked.
Anyway, the spot on Lane was empty for SEVERAL months (Cookers legal situation preventing it from being sold I believe), but Wendell’s Pub in Westerville opened up a new location there called “Wendell’s Alumni Grille”. Been there a couple times – not bad, almost the same (if not exactly the same) menu as the Westerville location. I think the new place has been open at least 5-6 months now…
i have been to that spot on lane ave for tailgating last football season before a game. very nice place. they cleaned it up a lot. check it out this football season.
