The Kentucky-based fast-casual Cajun eatery J. Gumbo’s is expanding in Central Ohio with a second location at 64 Granville Street in Gahanna. The soft opening is running through the end of this week with the public grand opening happening on Monday, February 15th. The new location will feature the same food menu as the Downtown location, but will also include a 550 sqft patio, a full service bar, and occasional live music.

anyone eaten at this location (Gay St.) yet??
I have. It’s great. I think a location like this in Gahanna will do very well. I bet if they put one of these on 5th Ave in Grandview it would do very well also.
Yay for my neighborhood!
I’ve been to the Gay Street location several times, and have always enjoyed it. Although I will say that I’m a bit jealous of the larger patio and full-service bar that the Gahanna location is getting. ;)
I am really excited about this – it’s in my neighborhood. Plan to eat there very soon!
I eat at the Gay St. location on a regular basis. I really enjoy it. The food is always very good, and also very cheap. That’s a winning combination in my book. And the location is great…right across the street from my office.
I’ve also been to the Gay St. location a few times. For me it’s just “OK”. Not a huge fan of the lunchcounter-style service, but at least it’s fast.
The etouffee is pretty weak – the crawfish were almost nonexistent in that version, so I tried the shrimp instead, and they just throw chilled cooked shrimp in the bowl and ladle what I assume is the “meatless” etouffee overtop. Naturally, the shrimp etouffee was very disappointing.
All their appetizers are simply one of the entrees with some cheese added, served with chips. The black & blue dip (bumblebee stew w/ blue cheese) was excellent. Probably the best thing I’ve had there.
Is this privately owned and operated as a franchise?
64 Granville is the old Panera at the corner of Mill. I wonder where they will put the patio part? Space is a premium at that intersection.
I think I’m with shroud. I tried the jambalaya once (at the Gay St. location) and it was dry and lacking in flavor. Are there dishes that people recommend?
JD3–I believe that the Columbus J Gumbos are owned by one person/people, since the parent company sells territories.
love j gumbos, bourbon chicken is the great.
I ate there this summer and thought the prices were very reasonable, portions large and the staff friendly.
The manager (or maybe he was the owner) was out front passing out flyers (it had recently opened and there was the Independents Fest going on).
I really like the Drunken Chicken. Sometimes I ask them to mix it with the White Chili. The first time I went I got the Red Beans and Rice, and wasn’t thrilled – BUT I’d been to N’Orleans recently and eaten pounds of RBR down there – so I was expecting the same.
I really love this place, and try to go every other week or so.
The Voodoo Chicken is a delicious bowl of fiery flavor. YUM!
I’m a big fan of J Gumbos. Chad (downtown) and Brandon (Gahanna) both do a great job. Just ate at the new Gahanna location on Saturday and they did an amazing transformation with the old Panera space. All the entrees are $6 right now during the grand opening. Love the NOLA Nachos and the Bourbon Street Chicken!
Ate at Gahanna Location Last night and it was really awesome. Obviously still working out some kinks as they have only been open for six days. However staff was very accomodating and gave free drinks to make up for slow service (they ran out of rice and had to cook more and took a while). I think this place will do well. Great location!!!
Love it!
want a real joke, ask to see the kitchen! they just reheat the food there, they don’t even have a stove or an oven.
Hmm, couldn’t find any records of your previous posts, so into the disregard pile it goes.
