Hello Anne, What a great list for planning the farmer’s market season! I’m writing (well in advance) to personally invite you to the 2013 Lithopolis Honeyfest which runs the Friday and Saturday after Labor Day – Sept. 6th (1 to 7) and Sept. 7th (9 to 7). The Lithopolis Honeyfest is a non-profit event with a mission to raise awareness about the importance of the honey bee on the pollination of crops, to increase the consumption of honey and to educate about the science and industry of beekeeping. With the involvement of honey and beekeeping trade associations, we see this event as a component in preserving apiculture, not just in Ohio, but nationwide and globally. We are the only honey festival in Ohio, and going into our 7th year have grown attendance to approx. 10,000 and have expanded to 2 days – the Friday & Saturday after Labor Day. We are located minutes SE of Columbus along Columbus St. in downtown Lithopolis. The festival features: bee beards, beekeepers and equipment, honey varietals for sale, honey tasting, honey extracting, mead (honey wine) and wine tasting, and honey-made food. Also, we host the American Honey Princess, offer Busy Beehive kids crafts, honey bee and beekeeping educational and interactive exhibits, photo contest, fantastic art, two stages of great live music and more! Free admission, parking, shuttle! All ages, family-friendly, handicap accessible. You may also find us on Facebook. Thank you for your time and consideration of this invitation.
