Introducing The SoHud Music Collective

By: Submitted News

It’s hard being an independent artist in a big city full of talent. Between writing, recording, practicing and performing, most bands do not have the time or resources to effectively promote their music.

The SoHud Music Collective was formed in January of 2009 as a free resource for local bands in Columbus, OH. We provide PR services for booking, press, and general promotions. Our founding members are The Max Power Trio, The Andy Shaw Band, and The Floorwalkers.

Every quarter we hold a SoHud Super show to showcase our new and existing talent.  This spring, our show will take place at Skullys Music diner on Friday May 29th. More information can be found online at SoHudMusic.org.

  • Nice concept.  I wish you luck, but think you should get a new name.  I wish people would stop riffing on the SoHo thing already.  It’s way overused.

  • I’m not clear on it from reading the webpage, is the resource open to assist bands other than the 3 founding groups? They said they’re not accepting other bands now, and it’s invite only… What, then, is available now for other groups? Thanks!

  • the idea is to start with three bands and get it going, once the ball starts rolling and the “machine” starts working, we will start to grow, come out to the show and see what its all about!

  • AWESOME SHOW!!! Max Power Trio (+Jeffro), Andy Shaw Band and the Floorwalkers ripped the Skully’s crowd in half!  An energizing evening of community, brotherhood and AMAZING music.

  • thanks so much to everyone who came out! (i play drums in ASB) and we had an amazing crowd! just wait till the next SoHud Super Show (we have four a year) it is going to be even bigger! thanks again!

Come ready to dance and have fun! Each bands brings something different to the stage, together you will be blown away!
The Floorwalkers are based out of Columbus currently, with roots in Cleveland and Memphis.
They are comprised of Kerry Henderson (Guitar), Ben Meinhold (Bass), Theo Perry (Lead Guitar), Jonathan Elliott (Lead Vocals), Tom Lasky (Drums), and Todd Hamric (Piano & Organ). Their interests include making world changing and body moving music, and they do just that. They weren’t always called “The Floorwalkers”. In fact they were once known as “Money For Gyros” in their younger Cleveland years from the year 2000-2004. Fostering their name from a phrase in Hunter S. Thompson’s book, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” in 2004, they became “The Floorwalkers’. Playing largely as an acoustic act for a year with electric shows sprinkled in, The Floorwalkers quickly grew in popularity and notoriety playing house parties, college functions and local venues. More recently though, it is becoming well known of The Floorwalkers’ immense love and live energy on the electric stage. The Other Paper wrote “[they are] tantalizingly close to the big time.” Their music has been described as rock and soul, incorporating all different varieties of music to woo you. They have released two albums to date, “The Frankfort EP” 2008, and an EP in 2005.
