There’s not really any information up on their site as of yet, but have a look at the latest rendering for the Ibiza project in the Short North and keep an eye on their Web site as the project evolves. I think this is a great development and I really like the effect that offsetting the higher stories creates, almost as if there was another building behind it. Good stuff:

I am pretty excited to see this going in since I spend so much time in that area. I can’t wait to see what kind of retail/restaurants may go in on the first level. Any idea when they plan on completing the project?
A living wall would be really neat on this building!!! This is less then a block from my house!
This project is wonderful! Only drawback is now I don’t know where I’ll rent tables and chairs for holiday party – since AAA Rental is gone
Definitely one of the nicest looking condo projects I have seen.
I wish we could get more buildings like this downtown. It is breaking my heart to watch construction workers outside my window lay new pavement on the lot at 3RD and Gay. What a complete waste of prime land. Its sad to realize that the market in Columbus, Ohio dictates that the best use of this piece of land is car storage.
That’s nice. I like how the tower is set back from the brick facade. The street in the artist picture looks almighty busy. Why is Ibziba so hush hush about telling us more or at least a timeline?
The building looks great, and seems like it’ll do a good job of being contemporary without upsetting the street level feel of the area.
That name, though… ugh. I guess you’re always on holiday when you live in Ibiza.
is this adjacent north of haiku?
Since Ibiza and Dakota are by the same developers, I wonder whether their timelines are connected…e.g., Ibiza breaks ground when Dakota sells x%. Does anyone know how Dakota sales have held up under the most recent (Dispatch-induced) panic? I also wonder whether we’re unknowingly witnessing a game of chicken between Ibiza and Jackson on High, which presumably will compete.
According to their website, it looks like the Dakota has 7 units left to sell.
Yep. Corner of High and Hubbard. There used to be an ugly building there had housed an equipment-rental business, but it was recently torn down.
Perhaps all they have is an empty lot and a pretty picture…
Given that they’re competing against other developments for owners, it would seem a smart strategic move to keep their plans under wraps until they have to divulge them.
Great project. I have loved the concept since it was first introduced. Push the limits of height along High St. As far as timeline, maybe they are waiting till the streetcar annoucement, then hit the market at once. :D
Where is this???
Ok, stupid question I know, but how are they pronouncing the place?
Like the Spanish Island ala “Ibitha” or “Ivitha”
…or just a straight-up American “Ibiza” with a “z” sound?
I toured Dakota with one of the in-house agents, and he pronounced the new building with the American Ih-BEE-zuh. Thank God. Who needs more foreign words? Try pronouncing it “MarSellas” and see what kind of reaction you get!?!?!
“11 stories of Metropolitan Living and Midwest Charm.”
It took a minute to realize how rare the use of “Midwest” is when used as a positive. That’s innovative to me. It’s beyond refreshing, and it’s about time, dammit. 8)
we went by earlier today (11.21) and they were driving in the posts to set up the construction wall. looks like building might commence shortly.
I really hope to god they change the name of this project
This looks fantastic! Would love to see a H&M or Diesel Store in this as retail properties.
received an e-mail from the sales rep of arms properties….they are supposed to start utility work sometime late this year, early 08, no later than february. excited to see it go up and who knows, i may be living there when it’s done. i’d like to see something of this scale go on the corner of fifth and high.
