Hubbard Bazaar Adds New Way to Shop the Short North Yard Sales

This Saturday, spend your entire day in the Short North! Beginning at 9am, the neighborhood will be hosting their annual yard sale. Last year, over 150 homes had yard sales going. This year, the new Hubbard Mastery School will be hosting a Bazaar to coincide with the yard sales.

“We love ways to be a part of the community and adding another component to the Short North Yard Sale is a great way to do that,” says Susie McGeean, Principal at Hubbard Mastery School. The school opened for the 2014 school year and welcomes students in grades Pre-K through Sixth.

The Hubbard Bazaar will have vendors located on the playground and inside of the school building. You’ll find vintage items, furniture, handmade jewelry, hand crocheted hats and finger puppets, books of all kinds, tshirts, nail art, pillows, candles, handcrafted leather goods, handcrafted woodcrafts, specialty crafted items for pups, dog treats, clutches, ceramics, metal sculptures, and more.

Many vendors are creating limited edition goods and offering new products for this event. Justin R. Poole of Just Real Woodcrafts will be participating for his first show of the season with a new line of wood crafts and Center Street Candles will be debuting new scents of their all soy, phthalate free candles.

While the event is focused on a fun day of shopping, there will also be some options for you to stop by and pick up a snack or drink for your day of yard saling. Native Eats will be there with their food cart and will feature their Cuban and Native Burger. Pick up a lemon shake-up or some kettle corn from Cosmic Kettle Corn. Joy’s Fairy Floss offers many different flavors of gourmet cotton candy that will put a sweet touch to your day. Bake Me Happy will be bringing out their VW Bus and featuring mini pop tarts, lemon blueberry bundt cakes, oatmeal crème clouds, peanut butter burners, chippies, spongies (twinkies!) and a special donut muffin just for the event.

“With this event happening on Gallery Hop night as well, people will be able to experience a full day of fun in the Short North,” says Anne Evans, organizer of the event for the Hubbard Mastery School PTO. The event serves as a fundraiser for the PTO which funds programs for the students, and is raising funds to transform the playground into a space that will be a true gem for the students and the community.

Those who have yard sales (or who would like to drop off goods they no longer need or want) are welcomed to stop by Hubbard Mastery School from noon to 4pm where there will be a staffed Goodwill Columbus donation truck stationed in the parking lot. Here is a list of items Goodwill can accept.

The PTO has also put together a great raffle prize that includes a selection of items from the Hubbard Bazaar vendors, plus 10 tickets to CAPA’s Summer Movie Series ($40 value), $50 in gift cards to Katalina’s, a gift card to Weiland’s Market, a set of 4 candles from The Candle Lab, and an autographed copy of Breakfast With Nick.

Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each at the PTO booth on the playground and the drawing will take place at 3pm. 100% of tickets sold go to the fund the PTO.
