Heartland Bank Relocating from Gahanna to Old Airport Terminal

Local historians and preservationists have been working for years to save the original Port Columbus Airport Terminal building, which has been named one of the most endangered historic buildings to potentially face demolition. Yesterday, preservationists got their wish. Gahanna-based Heartland Bank announced that they would relocate their company headquarters to the old building following renovations.

The company posted the following statement to their Facebook page yesterday evening:

So excited to share the news that Heartland Bank has signed a Letter of Intent to renovate the historic Port Columbus terminal and hangar as a new Corporate Center.

“It’s fitting that Heartland Bank, a strong community partner for over 100 years, is leading the efforts to preserve an important element of the community and the nation’s history,” said Elaine Roberts, President & CEO of CRAA. “We look forward to a long-term partnership with Heartland to ensure their success in their new headquarters.”

The 9,000 square foot building sits at the farthest end of East Fifth Avenue, located immediately southeast of Port Columbus. Heartland confirmed that the company would relocate sometime in late 2016.
