Grayson’s Living Ideas Inc. has until March 26 to move from of its highly touted showroom in the Arena District.

The Franklin County Sheriff served an eviction notice to Grayson’s on March 20, giving the home improvement business a week to leave the space. Waterside Machine Co. II LLC, a subsidiary of the Wittmann Co. and the owner of the building, had sued Grayson’s in February. According to records from the Clerk of Court’s office, Grayson’s never responded to the suit.

Grayson’s CEO Gary Gray, however, told the company’s business partners and exhibitors in a March 22 letter that Grayson’s was planning to file for bankruptcy protection. He blamed a difficult residential construction market over the last year for the business’ failure.

“It is with great sadness that the board of directors of (Grayson’s), after a long period of study and deliberation, has to inform you that our professional advisers have determined that (Grayson’s) must file for bankruptcy,” Gray wrote.

  • That explains why I went there twice after hearing radio commercials, only to find locked doors and no posted hours.

  • I drive or bus past there every day and frequently looked for their sign to change from “coming soon” and it never did. I’m not sure it ever opened…

  • I work next door to them & saw picketers with signs every morning trash-talking Graysons saying how they don’t pay their contractors… i think i only saw employees parked in the lot for a week… sounds like they’re having some issues…
