Giorgio Italian Restaurant Closing in Clintonville

When Giorgio Italian Restaurant opened in Clintonville in June 2008, it was with the promise to serve authentic Italian food with old-world feel in a town built on nostalgia. It was successful, the combination of grandmother’s recipes with white table cloth a winning formula.

Times change however, and 5 1/2 years later, Clintonville has grown as a neighborhood, along with its personalities and foodscape. That development forced those there to roll with the times, a move some were not quite not ready for, unfortunately. Among them, Giorgio Italian Restaurant, who will close its doors for good today, January 11th.

“We are like family with many of the people who walk through our doors every single day,” shares owner Beth Ryan. “Our staff has helped us to carry out our vision for Giorgio, and have helped us to create such a warm and inviting atmosphere. We are truly indebted to them for their service and wonderful care to our guests.”

And Clintonville feels indebted as well. Giorgio brought affordable class to the neighborhood, and being a full-service restaurant in a town histroically known for being “dry” only made Giorgio that much more a part of where Clintonville is today.

Giorgio also committed to several local vendors in its time, constantly focused on giving back and supporting their own. It’s an important component in their business model, and one that will continue to be at the forefront as employees move on with the assistance of their employers.

When the restaurant officially closes, Ryan and her team will begin work on a new, more vibrant concept they hope to introduce later this year. One of the most important lessons Ryan has learned is the importance of marketing and visibility, so look for the new project to be more hyped than Giorgio was.

Giorgio Italian Restaurant seats roughly 80 inside and 40 on the patio. The new restaurant will again feature fare that’s reasonably-priced, family-friendly, and a positive addition to our evolving city.

“We are so proud of Giorgio and thankful to everyone who has made it such a success,” adds Ryan. “We love being a part of the Clintonville community and are very excited to share our new ideas with you in the near future.”

Giorgio is located at 2941 North High Street. For more information, visit www.giorgiodining.com.
