The Giant Mystery Gift that dropped onto Broad and High was revealed today during lunch. The present that many Columbusites were waiting for turned out to be a column banner, announcing the kickoff for Columbus’ newest signature event, idUS.
Mayor Coleman rolled up in a Daytona Prototype two-seater designed by Michael Shank Racing to open the 10 foot box and reveal the bicentennial surprise.
“As a life-long resident of Columbus, I’m very excited about the future of this entire community,” said Shank who operates a 20,000 square foot race shop out of Pataskala, Ohio. “We are very pleased to represent Columbus’ motorsports industry and happy to be a part of this event today.”
idUS is an eleven day collection of events celebrating innovation and design, which includes a Design Week event, a film festival and more. Some are envisioning the event becoming the next big thing Columbus is known for. The events begin on September 28, 2012.
“This unprecedented community collaboration represents the first time Columbus has put a stake in the ground to highlight its unique creative culture, which is driving innovation across the city,” said Mayor Coleman. “idUS will showcase the talent and the energy that helps make Columbus such a great city.”
