We are lucky that our city is overflowing with many theatrical opportunities for both performers and audience members alike. There is one place, though, that you may not think to look for a show in the middle of the summer. Columbus Children’s Theatre, commonly know for our productions catering young audience member, also host a very special summer production every July for older audiences and performers.

The Summer Pre-Professional Company, comprised of actors from age 16 through undergraduate students, has been presenting extremely impressive works since the early 1990’s. From Pippin to Chicago, the company gives young actors roles to grow into after they are too mature for shows such as Annie. Moreover, this year’s throwback to 1985 is creating much excitement among the cast and staff.

Coming this summer, CCT’s Pre-Professional Company proudly presents The Wedding Singer. Based on the movie starring Adam Sadler, this musical follows New Jersey’s most famous wedding singer Robbie Hart though his messy break-up, and several disastrous wedding receptions after, to finding his true love. This show does not stop at final bows, either. CCT will also be holding our second opening night after party. For only $20, you receive admission to the show and after party. CCT is hosting the Happily Ever After Party, Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 10:00 PM – 12:00 AM at Callahan’s. Join Robbie and Julia at their wedding reception, along with the rest of the The Wedding Singer cast, for a celebration following the opening night performance. 1980’s attire and hair is encouraged. $5 admission includes pizza buffet, complimentary first drink, DJ and more. This event is open to everyone age 21 and older.

The Wedding Singer will run July 11th – 28th ; Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3p.m. at The Park Street Theatre, 512 N. Park Street, Columbus, OH 43215. All show tickets are $15 and reservations are strongly recommended. Please call (614) 224-6672 or visit ColumbusChildrensTheatre.org for more information or to reserve tickets.
