The folks down at Freshstreet Yakitori are up to some new tricks. In addition to launching the new Bincho Taqueria, they will also be starting lunch service at Double Happiness on Monday, July 9th, which will run from 10am to 2pm, Monday through Friday.
Yakitori skewers will not be on the menu at lunch, and instead will be replaced by a number of new lunch specials.
“We are going to serve various rice bowls, rice balls (onigiri), and Japanese/Asian hot dogs,” says Freshstreet co-owner Kenny Kim. “The hot dogs are going to be our fun item, and we’ll probably have four to six different types to choose from.”
Kim says that the average lunch price point will be $8-$10 with a focus on providing a cheap, quick and satisfying meal.
More updates and information can be found on Freshstreet’s Facebook Page.

the only thing that sucks about this is that I probably won’t be able to have lunch there.
We went today and it was (unsurprisingly) really good. I loved the shrimp katsu with Japanese curry bun and also enjoyed the my tuna rice bowl.
Today there was a choice of 2 rice bowls and 4 or 5 Chinese-fusion bun sandwiches as well as quite a few sides.

Just got back from lunch. In stark contrast to my $8 joke of a lunch yesterday ( http://www.columbusunderground.com/forums/topic/giant-eagle-market-district-foodie-truck#post-454838 ), this place is a gem. Have been there before, but not for lunch. $6 tuna rice bowl was simply incredible. Very high quality tuna full of flavor and what a great place to be. This place needs and deserves a lot more support for lunch!
