Hail to the Yueng
By: Garth BishopThe official launch date has come and gone, but Yuengling-mania is still running wild in central Ohio. Though the Yuengling company proudly bills itself as the oldest brewery in the U.S., its beers have long been forbidden fruit for Ohioans. It was not until last month that the Pennsylvania-based company began selling its beers –Yuengling Lager, Yuengling Light Lager and Yuengling Black & Tan – here.

Has anyone else had Yuengling in cans since its release? I noticed a very "chemical" taste to it. Bottled was better, but still not a beer I would drink regularly.
*I don't claim to have discriminating taste buds for beer. I like most.

Bottles are usually better. I've had Old Style in a can that tasted like what a beer called Old Style would taste like. Same beer in a bottle? Quite delicious.

They are eagerly waiting bottles and cans in Dayton and Cincinnati:
What’s all the fuss about Yuengling beer?
Dayton Daily News
by Mark Fisher
Friday, October 28, 2011The beers’ popularity already has pushed back the introduction of Yuengling (pronounced “Ying-Ling”) in bottles and cans to Dayton and Cincinnati markets by two weeks to Nov. 14, according to brewery officials and the brewery’s local distributor, Heidelberg Distributing Co. The beer was introduced into the Cleveland and Columbus markets in early October, and the beer sold so well there that the brewery couldn’t keep up with demand while also gearing up for a planned Oct. 31 roll-out in southwest Ohio and Toledo. Brewery officials decided early last week to postpone the roll-out of cans and bottles until Nov. 14, while still planning to introduce the beer in draught form in local bars on Monday, Oct. 31.

Although the neon Yuengling sign above the bar at Max & Erma’s Polaris restaurant has been glowing for less than three months, it’s becoming familiar quickly. The Pennsylvania beer, which entered central Ohio in early October, is already among the top three beers requested by the restaurant chain’s area customers.

Have you tried the Lord Chesterfield or Porter yet?I picked up the Lord Chesterfield Ale. It had citrus notes, with a bitter and dry finish. It was more favorable than other beers in that price point, but a little too bitter for my taste.
Maybe I should have picked up the porter, too. I'm glad I don't have to drive to PA to pick up a case of their Bock now! It has such a small window of availability anyways, so it's great to be able to buy it locally.
