Andrew Miller and I are presenting at the MORPC Community Forum on ways that Social Media can be useful to local governments to engage their residents in environmental education.
I know of many organizations that have a website, but content only with no interaction is Web 1.0; We want to highlight the next level of online engagement. Who are the innovators in this realm?
I thought using Social Media for input seems only 'natural'
(pardon the pun)
What have you seen done?
What new ideas do you suggest?
What tools would be helpful to local governments and eco-focused non-profits?
Links do not have to be in Central Ohio, but I would like to learn of any other central ohio green initiatives that I have not captured below.
Here are links/tools I have gathered:
Leave No Child Inside Blog and Family Nature Clubs
Columbus Green Life (on Drupal platform)
CU: The Greenest House in the Midwest on Columbus Underground
NPR: Environmentalists Adopt New Weapon: Seed Balls
Sustainable Worthington Google Group
Geocaching: treasure hunting with technology
Franklin Park Conservatory - Community Gardens
Get Green Columbus - Community Gardens (link to pdf only)
Great Tool for learning Social Media: 23 Things
Green Resource Stop Delivery of Phone Books
I look forward to your guidance!
