I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to share our favorite "stuff". I love finding things that make my life easier or more enjoyable, whether it be food, clothes, alcohol, websites, or whatever. At the same time, I get a little pissed that I just found out about something and could have been enjoying it for years. So here it goes...in no particular order...
- Alessi Saffron Risotto - Easy to make, and close enough to "real" risotto for me. Goes great with salmon. Sidenote...avoid the porcini mushroom flavored variety. It's salty and tastes a little strange.
- Great Lakes Brewing Co. Commodore Perry IPA - I'm a huge fan of hoppy beers. This one is great for a summer BBQ and has a little citrusy taste to it. Be warned though, it's got 7.5% abv.
- Sriracha Hot Sauce - It's been getting pretty popular to the point where you see it appear by name on menus at nicer restaraunts. It's got just the right amount of flavor/spice for my taste. It goes great in marinades for flank steak, stir frys, and is good for adding a little spice to soups (i.e. pho from Lac Viet).
- Shure E2C Sound Isolating Headphones - I can't travel without them. They render crying babies and jet engines completely helpless. $100 well spent.

I have a dilemma when it comes to hot sauce. I love fresh hot peppers. I don't like vinegar too much. Most hot sauces are 90% vinegar, so they wind up smelling and tasting like spicy vinegar to me, and I hate that.
So I've only found a handful of sauces I really enjoy. This one being my absolute favorite:
It's got a lot of flavor with very little vinegar taste. It's not super hot or anything, but will add a great kick to any dish. I enjoy it on mexican food as well as pizza, spaghetti, mac and cheese, and just about anything else I can think to put it on.
The one pictured above is the Jalapeno variety, which is my favorite. They also make a habanero one (hotter), an ancho one (smokier), and a few others I think. They're all good, but jalapeno is the all-around best in my opinion.

LOL...I think I spent too much time with the brothers over the years, because I'm now a sucker for putting good old fashioned Redhot on everything! (and yeah, I suppose you can call this a racial stereotype, but my black friends are who got me hooked dammit!)

Pear river bridge (I use the superior dark) harder to find but worth the trip to the asian market.
Now mix all this stuff in a bowl with a brush and put it on everything.
(yes even the extra stout). .. ..especialy the extra stout.

Here are some things I can't live without. Some are pretty obvious, but hopefully they'll help someone. i'll add more as i think of them.
Google Reader
If you read more than 1 website on a regular basis you need this (or some other RSS reader). it'll save you time and you can even track columbusunderground using it!
Online Savings Accounts
if you are still saving your money in a brick and mortar savings account at .25%, get it out and put it in an online savings account earning 5%+.
Haagen Dazs Light Ice Cream
damn good ice cream and not too bad for you. i recomend the caramel cone flavor
TV Shows on DVD
Chimay

Great pizza - This is one thing I really missed living in Columbus. Even up in Minnesota there are lots of places to get a good pie, but in C-Bus it's pretty much impossible with a few exceptions (Adriaticos was pretty good if I recall correctly). For the best goddamn pizza you've ever eaten though, you've got to go to Lou Malnati's in Chicago. http://www.loumalnatis.com

Foie Gras - I despise animal cruelty, but god damn. Totally worth it. Make sure it comes from a small farm, not one of those french factories.

Great thread. Random samplings of my own favorites:
Fun, funny web-based game. Great sense of humor.
These things are scary addicting. They're pretty expensive at the regular grocery stores, but Target carries them for a good price.

The Raspberry Salsa specifically.
I'm such a Shadowbox fanboy. I think folks here already know that by now.
Possibly my favorite webcomic.
WOW is this stuff good - makes a great dipping sauce, marinade, cooking sauce, etc, etc.
Love all the Kleptones stuff, but A Night at the Hip-Hopera is almost never out of my rotation.

I know that we agreed on the merits of a "softball player" body, but the girls we mentioned have hot faces.
Chloe has nothing going for it.
Also, I find myself to generally be a "net weight" man. We're among the shallowest bunch.
