The year is coming to an end. What are your best and worst movies of 2007?
There are still a few I would like to watch, but here are my top 10 and all the movies that I've seen so far that came out this year...
(In order)
Best (A):
1. Grindhouse
2. Transformers
3. Breach
4. 28 Weeks Later
5. Waitress
6. The Bourne Ultimatum
7. The Host (saw this way back in '06 but I guess it didn't release in the States till '07)
Good (B-C):
8. The Simpsons Movie (actually funnier than I thought it'd be)
9. I Am Legend
10. 300
11. The Kingdom (I'm gonna squeeze this in because I really enjoyed this one)
Ratatouille
Sicko
Live Free or Die Hard
Mr. Brooks (surprisingly not bad, but Dane Cook was annoying)
Rescue Dawn
Superbad
Knocked Up
Alpha Dog (another surprising one)
Disturbia
Ocean's 13
Eastern Promises
Days of Glory
(In order from worst to least worst)
Worst (F):
Spider-Man 3 (being a huge Spider-Man fan this was easily my biggest disappointment of '07)
Hostel II

Smokin Aces
The Number 23
The Lookout (I was really lookin forward to this one prior to watching it, but it ended to be a let down for me)
Zodiac (same for this one as well)

i would say the best film i saw in 2007 not sure if they were filmed in 07 is children of men. the worst i saw in 07 was yesterday at the the bank while i was waiting in line, it was the mask 2......

Really?!?! Have you seen nearly any movie that he's put out in the last decade or more with the exception of Dreamgirls. If so, then your Norbit experience should have come as no great surprise. He's like the black Steve Martin . . . great early career followed by a heaping helping of shit. :roll:

Except that Steve Martin has a side-gig writing, directing, and producing some decent films, books, etc.
Eddie Murphy hasn't been funny since Delirious.

I actually thought Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy were both funny in Bowfinger.
I also think he's hysterical as Donkey in Shrek.

Don't know if I can assemble a top-ten list quite yet, but I definitely that the best movies of 2007 were "Once" and "Hot Fuzz."

WORST: Gone Baby Gone
Watching two more movies this weekend before I finalize though LOL!
p.s. Before the Devil Knows Your Dead is a close second on favorites.

Got a new one to add, it was one of the movies I was trying to see for a while.
He Was A Quiet Man.
You've probably never heard of it, pretty obscure title...and even if you did when you saw Christian Slater and Elisha Cuthbert on the roster may have passed it by...don't!
The cinematography alone makes this a must see film, but the performances (particularly Slater) are exceptional. The story itself is dark, unique, and engaging.
plus, talking fish rule.

My favorite of the year was Sweeney Todd. I also really liked American Gangster, but Sweeney Todd was the best movie I've seen in years.
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I really didn't like Grindhouse. I watched both films on PPV, not on the big screen, and in both cases, I was engaged for awhile and then completely and totally lost interest. A lot of people whose opinions I respect loved it, so maybe there's just something I didn't get. Who knows. In that sort of genre, I'd take Kill Bill any day. I can watch Kill Bill ad nauseum.

I saw Sweeney Todd on Friday, and I'd definitely add it to my list of favorites for the year as well. I loved it. I do think it helped that I just saw the stage production not long ago... that and the fact that I'm pretty much a sucker for the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp combo.
I also wasn't a fan of Grindhouse. I thought Planet Terror was an ultra-cheesy zombie flick that was pretty fun - I dug it, but definitely don't need to see it again any time soon. I thought Death Proof was a total borefest... when they reset the scene after the first crash and spent ANOTHER 30 mins or so of girls sitting around in a bar talking... not for me thanks.

I think '07 was a really good year for movies. I watched more movies in '07 than any other year because there were so many great ones that came out. I think a top 10 list for '07 is really difficult, as I find myself continuing to shuffle my picks around after I see one great movie after another.

You are nuts. Raw was like 234234234x better than Delerious, and by saying that you are dismissing: beverly hills cop the entire trilogy, coming to america, another 48 hours, harlem nights, golden child, nutty professor, trading places (same year as delerious dunno which was first). I mean half of those movies are classics. That is insane.
