Y'know, I think I'm going to vote for Howard in this one. He's the most qualified for the job. He's already worked over 20 years in the state auditor's office and he's the only candidate who's a licensed CPA. Since the auditor doesn't have any say over policy, his political affiliation doesn't really matter.
Those other two guys are just using the office as a stepping stone for bigger things in the future. I get the feeling Howard actually wants to BE the auditor.
Double.
Triple. Sorry.
The position of auditor is one that makes up the board that redraws Ohio's state legislature and congressional lines.
Thus I want to see Pepper win and put a D on that panel. If Strickland looses he would be our ONLY Democrat, statewide officeholder. A vote on a 3rd party here is mostly going to be a throw away.
So Yes the auditor has more than a say over "policy."
Good point. Forgot about the apportionment board thing. And here I was patting myself on the back for supporting a third party candidate. Better hedge my bets and not vote for the most qualified candidate, because staving off GOP gerrymandering next year is the greater good.

I voted for Dave Yost because I knew a guy with the same name growing up, but my friend is about 10 years younger.

What do you think the chances are of S.J.R. 5 moving in lame duck if Republicans win the Ohio House?
It's passed the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House and Governor are held by Democrats. I think it moves - it would be silly for Democrats not to.
