Description

YEAR OF YAY! is a series of 12 rides to celebrate our city and promote membership in Yay Bikes!. Everyone who rides with us will receive an exclusive button designed by Bandito Design Co, as well as other goodies TBA.

January's theme is "warm & cozy", so we'll be visiting several coffee shops to warm up as we ride through OSU campus, Grandview, Franklinton, German Village and Downtown. Layer up and come on out to kick it with some really great folks.

This ride is FREE! All future YaY rides are free for Yay Bikes! members and $5 for everyone else.

February's theme is "bike love", and we'll be visiting places that we love in Franklinton, German Village, Olde Towne East, Franklin Park and Downtown. Bring your tandem, bring your sweetheart, or bring the (bike) love of your life and join some great folks for a fun ride.

"To celebrate Columbus Bi(ke)centennial 200columbus is donating 100 bells for our 200 wheeled float for St. Patricks Day! Yes folks, that means we NEED 100 cyclists to get the 200 wheels on the ground. Tell your cyclist friends to join us!"

April's theme is Rhythm of the Earth. We will be celebrating National Record Store Day by visiting local record shops and ending at the Earth Day Celebration at the Columbus Commons to celebrate our community garden cleanup from April 14th.

June's theme is Artistic Expression. We will be touring a wide variety of art locations in Columbus and end at the 2012 GCAC Columbus Arts Festival where we will park for free with Pedal Instead.

Tour some of Columbus' most exciting urban growing operations! Choose from one of three exciting tours with a route for every level of experience: the "Watermelon" route (19 miles), the Eggplant route (9 miles), and the Cherry Tomato route (3.5 miles). Site visits will include a variety of growing operations in Columbus, including several Local Matters' Growing Matters sites!

All tours will begin at Goodale Park and will conclude at Godman Guild for a delicious picnic lunch and performance of "Stone Soup"
with food provided by Chipotle, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, Two Caterers and Snowville Creamery.

As part of Year of Yay, all garden tours are free for all Yay Bikes! members. Members are invited to attend the picnic lunch after the bike ride and may purchase a ticket for a reduced price of $15.

Three routes are available for this ride.

September's theme is Back to School. Meet at 9:30AM at the open air shelter in Goodale Park and roll around 10:00AM. Snacks will be provided at the half way point and lunch will be provided at the main library! More details as we get closer to the event.

November's ride, with a theme of Giving Back, is being sponsored by WHOLE FOODS!

This ride is free to members, as always, and the $5 fee for non-members will be waived if you bring $5 worth of donations. We also ask that all riders come with $20 worth of donations (food, coats or toiletries) or be prepared to spend at least $20 during the ride on these items. We will be stopping at Whole Foods, Big Lots and a thrift store, then taking our donation to a local food pantry. Please bring trailers or other equ
ipment to help with the haul!
