Will this mention how German Village is in the midst of a continual crime wave? You can't walk the place after dark. I've lived here less than a year and I've had two attempted break-ins and have met two people who've been recently mugged and i'm always seeing cars that have been broken into. It's not a neighborhood, its a war zone.

I watched the show last week, and I have to say I was disappointed. It felt much more disjointed to me, like a random parade of very loosely related historical factoids, then too-rapidly flying through the revitalization period as if that was all inevitable. Maybe my expectations were too high - I liked the Short North one a lot.

Ive lived here a little more then a year and my house got broken into a few weeks ago :( Lots of valuable stuff taken out. My back door was kicked out. Maybe I should get a dog or a gun...

A concealed carry permit will go along way in protecting you and your family.
Part of the reason, I think, German Village is so often targeted for home invasions and break ins while people are in the home. Is because criminals know that, for the most part, people who live their don't have guns.

I always laugh at this. It reminds me of the guy who told me how metropolitain columbus is. "Columbus has a lot of buildings along High street. Many over two stories!"
I lived in a nice neighborhood in Philly. Once a month (or more) there would be a shooting within two blocks of my home. I learned to tell the difference between a 9 mm and a 38 by sound. Statistacally it was safer to be in Iraq than a young white man in Philly.
In Chicago I've had people pull knives on me, had two attempted muggings by a cabbie, chased down purse snatchers and had fights in subways with gang members.
Crime in German Village? Please.
