I'm thinking about taking my gf tonight. Never been before, but I've heard good things. I'm hoping that it's warm, romantic, and not too stuffy. Anybody been who'd like to share their thoughts/experience? Any particular table(s) I should try to reserve?

The very best calmari--sauteed, nice cozy atmosphere, great service, great food. I hosted a Winter Solstice dinner party there and everyone loved it and most had never been there before. It is an often overlooked gem.

Restaurant review: The Worthington InnBy G.A. Benton
What qualities enable a restaurant to attain and maintain its status among our elites? Great food, of course, but there's obviously more. I believe the setting needs to be special or unique and I know hospitality is key. Because it won't matter how stellar the food you eat is if poor service sends you home with a bad taste in your mouth.
This happened to me at the Worthington Inn. Yes, the Worthington Inn that I used to attach such adjectives to as "venerable" and "august." Now I'd have to add "disappointing." Granted, the fiasco was limited to one of three recent visits, and at the others, I had splendid dinners.

It's sad to admit, but I had one of the worst dates of my life at the Worthington, and I can't forgive them, all of these years later.
It wasn't just my lackluster date (who ordered for me, blech, and told me, after I'd selected a wine, "why don't we just let the server pick something out"); the server forgot to order our apps, and brought our entrees out; when we mentioned this, she took our entrees back to the kitchen, where they sat and waited for us to get our apps. When we did get our entrees, the sauce on my lamb had skin on it. Yikes.
Again, this was a really long time ago; I just can't go there without remembering that terrible date.
I'm not sure if it's better or worse that a few years after that, one night after a few too many, Husband and I (then Boyfriend) were getting some 3am Taco Bell, and my horrible date was working there...

oh sweet justice LOL!

You should've asked the old boyfriend to select a wine for you from Taco Bell's menu.

SKIN ON LAMB...I just threw up in my mouth reading that...imagining what that must look like. Absolutely disgusting. Wow, my time there with a large group was lovely, but I am not going to rush back anytime soon!

Sucks about the bad service in the article, but I have to say to the original poster that if you want a quiet, romantic restaurant with top-notch food--and one that's out of the usual batch--Worthington Inn's a great pick.

I grew up in Worthington, and have never eaten there.
Just want to point that out.

At the Worthington Inn, as elsewhere, the holiday festivities are over. Yet the dessert menu still offers indulgences that could weaken a New Year's resolution. A case in point is chef Thomas Smith's take on bananas Foster ($8).
The traditional version sautes bananas in a buttery mix of sugar and liquor (typically rum) and is finished with cream or ice cream.

In content and creativity, high quality reigns

Worthington Inn executive chef Thomas Smith continues to maintain high standards, with local provisioning and made-on-the-premises cooking.
The dedication shows in the new spring-and-summer menu, which is full of worthwhile dishes.

The Worthington Inn's food is really fabulous, and highly under-rated. Chef Tom is doing great, creative, local food in a beautiful historic location. Atmosphere inside isn't terribly modern but give it a try. I think you'll love your meal.

I prefer to sit at the bar and listen to the live jazz if it's just a group of two.
