Quite possibly the worst (or best, depending on your own thoughts) promo video I've ever seen:
If anyone does think it's a ploy, then why do they point you to an offline website? And his youtube account has been deleted (I think he was hoping his videos would be, as well, but they're totally not). If it is a ploy and fake, it's one of the most ingenious viral marketing campaign I've ever seen.
If you do this search: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Afredandsharonsmovies.com you can see their cached pages, which certainly look very real. [my personal favorites are the animations, followed by another video about their neighbors at the farmer's market]
So that video prompted me to think about our own local ads and how, when I was growing up, I actually boycotted Conn's Potato Chips because I hated their ads.
What are some of our worst?
My top 5:
1. Kevin Kurgis
2. Fred Ricart
3. The Loan Arrangers
4. Haydocy (poor Rick Nash)
5. That Nationwide/Orange Barrel ad with the paint on the side of the building
[The Nationwide ad took me about a month of driving by before I even saw it in its entirety. Poor location and poor execution. Billboard ads are supposed to grab your attention and give you all of its information in 3 seconds. That one took me a month.]
