The Shadowbox hit musical "Back to the Garden," a musical journey through the Woodstock Festival, will be performed for one night only on August 1st at Schiller Park in German Village. Performance starts at 8 p.m.

I can't tell you how stoked we are for this. Admission is free but we will be asking for donations that will go straight to Actors' Theater so they can continue their wonderful park performances.

I hope to see many, many of you there. :)

Barley's Mild Child poster and brew reminded me of "Back to the Garden". I think I'll indulge in a few of these before I get my mind blown by the Shadowbox crew that night.

We're expecting big numbers so here is some main information on the event. We're still waiting to hear about parking and so forth but I'll post that info as soon as it's available.

The Show

Back to the Garden, a musical journey through the Woodstock Festival.

- Come experience the story of Woodstock the way it was meant to be Ã¢â‚¬â€œ outdoors! The Shadowbox hit musical Ã¢â‚¬Å“Back to the GardenÃ¢â‚¬Â is playing in the park! Come experience the great songs of the Ã¢â‚¬Ëœ60Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s along with the backstage drama of the biggest concert in history. This version of the show is family-friendly so donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t be afraid to bring the kids!

- Performance starts at 8 p.m. - runs approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes

- Although the performance is free, weÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ll be asking for donations for Schiller ParkÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s resident company - ActorsÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ Theater,

Schiller Park in German Village

Seating

We will fit as many people as we can in the actual Ã¢â‚¬Å“seating areaÃ¢â‚¬Â (Blankets Only).
There are other spots in the park with limited sightlines. For everyone else, you will still be able to hear the show (mostly made up of great songs from the Woodstock era.) WE RECOMMEND GETTING THERE EARLY!

Food and Drink

We recommend bringing food and drink picnic style. DonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t forget water!
We are currently attempting to contact vendors and hope to have a list posted shortly.
- BRING CASH!

Restrooms

There will be Port OÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Potties in addition to the restrooms available at the Schiller Park rec center.

Souvenirs:

WeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ll be selling our Back to the Garden t-shirts for $25. CASH ONLY.

Reminder that this is Sunday. And it's FREE!!!

There will be food and drink vendors starting at noon for those of you making a day out of it.

IMPORTANT PARKING INFO:

Current list of public lots that can be used for parking:

Swiss Chalet Party House
Weller
Capital City Dental
Barrett School

Grange Insurance is also making their lot available for only $3 per car (front street entrance ONLY)!

COTA Capital Transportation is providing a shuttle from Grange to the park, and Shadowbox will be charging a minimal fee to recover some of the cost for the shuttle service.

Shuttle Service details:

Cost: Only $1 per person (each way)

Locations: From the Front St. entrance of the Grange garage to the park side corner of S. 3rd and Reinhard (and vice-versa)

Availability: Shuttles will operate from 6pm to 8:30pm and again from 10pm to 11:30pm

Biking

Bike Corral will be located in the Rec Center Parking Lot compliments of Consider Biking with support form B-1 Bike Shop.

sorry about that. the start time is 8:00. however, we do recommend getting there early. I'll have the list of food and drink vendors to post soon - they'll be there starting at noon.

Is this the first time Shadowbox has performed in such an open arena (trying to not make an "outside the box" joke)? I'd love to know the estimated crowd count.

We've done 'street performances' in the past, but nothing like this. We're lucky in that our sound guy has experience doing shows outdoors as well as in our space.

Not sure how to get a realistic estimation of the people, so we're going with "A LOT." ;)

I know I've already said this but we are unbelievably excited to be doing this and hope to raise some good money for Actors' Theater.

I'll be there & I am really looking forward to it.

I have one concern.In an earlier post, it was mentioned that it was only going to be blanket seating, no chairs. Is that correct? Actor's Theater usually has a policy of blankets in front of the stage path, chairs behind the stage path. Will the normal procedure be altered?

If so, I recommend that any promotional material include a note saying 'blanket seating only.' People who regularly go to Schiller may get upset if there is a ban on chairs.

Sorry about the confusion - we are planning on keeping the same procedure as Actors'. There will be a blanket only section and then chairs will be permitted behind that.

That's great. I was hoping that was the case. The last time I went for Much Ado, there was a lady with an oxygen tank sitting near me who was just overset with everything... I can't imagine the fuss if she couldn't use her chair! :)
