Last week, I read about a Radio Shack in Mexico that was offering voodoo dolls in the likeness of US National team soccor players, to help ensure the Mexican team takes the match in Columbus next week. A "light-hearted way to involve the fans".
Hmmm. This week I get an email from "BRUJO Mayor" (who has his own website, btw!) He's very concerned about the outcome of the game:
Luckily, the Big Witch realized my Spanish is pretty rusty, so he sent a translation:
We decided to make a ceremony, ritual, to help our selection win. And the next 10 of February at 19:30 (7:30) Mexican time. With the purpose of encouraging and giving self confidence to out players, and too much energy, to get the TRIUMPH.
Enjoy with us. Wherever you live, you can simply burn a yellow candle, requesting positively the triumph of the Tricolor. And we will imagine the equipment to get the exit. Without negative ideas or doubts....
I had no idea soccer fans were so superstitious. Or that Mexico apparently has only one time zone.
But why would the Big Witch think I hate America so much?
