Mine was still on when I got home from the soccer game around 10 last night (but the cable was out). I went to bed around midnight and it was still on, woke up some time between midnight and four and it was off. Still off when I left at seven this morning. Traffic lights were off all down Fifth, although the light at Dublin & Fifth was working.
I kept power all through Hurricane Ike in September. I was on Columbus City power then. I'm on AEP now in Grandview.

I lost it for about 1 second, but there are a lot of people around here in worse shape. What's really odd is the pattern of power outages. It's not like "western X Township is out." It's like "this street is on, the next one's off, but the one past that is on, except for the two houses farthest from the main road; this side of the street is on, that side is off; even-numbered houses in neutral colors are off, as are odd-numbered houses in warm colors with more than 2 bathrooms, as well as houses with a primary breadwinner over the age of 55, unless he/she was born abroad or has green eyes." It's a complete patchwork. The elementary school closings have gone by individual elementary school, rather than by district, for example.

It's totally true. The perfect example was that big power outage last year... I live in German Village, and I never lost power. Scores of my neighbors lost power for days, and some for over a week. But one block would have power, the next wouldn't. It was completely random.
I was lucky last night. I had some flickering, but never lost power.

The power at work kept flickering starting around 5. Grrrr. F's up the computers.
But never seem to have lost power in Victorian Village.
My friend around the corner from you lost power this morning around 2, Hegemo; but he's in Columbus. Perhaps that suburban shield is slipping....

My snobby neighbors had power, and they kept all the lights in their BACK YARD on to rub it in. This is the woman who saw me shoveling the sidewalks and said "yeah, I'm hoping the sun will melt it. I'm wiped out from shoveling my BACK YARD." WTF, lady.

ours wasn't out either. Our block was one of the few around here that had power after the hurricane last year too. Guess we're just lucky.
