I've attended some meetings in Dublin with my parents about the Bridge-Street Corridor. Dublin has the money and the power to make something like this happen. As much as Dublin contributes to the Central Ohio community, I believe the benefits of urbanizing the downtown core (where my parents live!) would benefit not only Dublin, but also Columbus and the Central Ohio community.
I was there to tell the other residents and the committee that my primary need is mass transit, as well as mixed-use development and more residential properties. I thought I would be the only one with these desires, but surprisingly, as the nation's views and desires are changing, so are the views and desires of those in Dublin. Of course not everyone in Dublin wants this, but the vast majority does and the city knows that it's what's best for the future of Dublin. Very glad to hear that our biggest suburb is as progressive as it is, given the fact that it's a suburb.
I hope other communities around central Ohio can learn from this plan.
Also, I was the youngest person at the meeting (I'm 24).
The point is, if you really want rail, or anything else for that matter, voice your opinion. It's a true saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."
