Where to Recycle and Old Hard Drive

Any idea of a reliable place to recycle an old Hard Drive?

My HD crashed earlier this year and I took the computer to Right Click in Grandview and had a new HD installed. At the end they asked me if I wanted the old HD back, and I felt compelled to say yes as it once contained a lot of financial info, photos, etc...

Of course now it is just sitting in the closet. I could take a hammer to it and leave it in the trash, but I know there is a decent chunk of aluminum in a standard HD that can be recycled. Any ideas of a trustworthy place to drop it off?

I take it's not functional? Try Free Greek, they might have use of it and they wipe them clean.

i've given some 'functional' items to Free Geek before and will give them a call on this one.

other ideas if that doesn't work?

went to the above today. you can drop most things off for free, but for $5 you can also watch them fire up a machine and destroy your hard drive. quite a good feeling that it is destroyed and the aluminum etc... will be recycled.

I just took all of my old computers and spare parts to Computer Express in the Olentangy Plaza on Bethel. It's behind Gallo's next to Micro Center. They buy old computers and parts and actually made some cash taking my stuff there. They will recycle your parts for free with a few exception, CRT monitors bring one of them. I think they wanted a $5 fee to recycle them.

Along those lines, I was looking for a place to take an Old TV this week.

Ohio Mulch locations take old electronic items except TVs and Monitors.

The Westerville Rd location is the only Ohio Mulch store who takes TVs and Monitors and it is $1 per each.
