Hey guys, I'm a senior at OSU studying economics and I've got a likely December graduation date. CU has been a fantastic tool for my education about Columbus, and I thought I'd take a shot at harnessing that vast local knowledge for my own selfish gain.
Hopefully the job market has turned more positive by the time I actually need a job, but I'm starting to look around now to get an idea of what is out there. I've really enjoyed Columbus since I've been here, and I potentially see it as a place I'd like to stay. Consider me a foot soldier in the fight against Ohio brain drain.
As I said, my major is economics. Some words that might help to describe my professional interests are: finance, policy, banking, investing, research, analysis. I have a particular interest in analysis of macroeconomic news and trends, and I'm kind of a monetary policy dork-in-the-making. I also have a deep love of politics, though I'm not a strict partisan for either team. As I'm less than a year from being done, and I'm seeing that the beaten path to banking jobs available in years past might not be available anymore, I'm starting to evaluate my options.
I'd be interested to hear any advice you guys might have, either in terms of general job hunting for a new grad, specific companies or sectors that might merit more investigation on my part, or any other form of insight you might have.
Thanks a ton!
