Where is the "worst" corner in Columbus?

Yeah, the wasteland areas are what depress me the most. Most bad inner-city neighborhoods still have some decent housing stock and a lot of potential.

Exactly! I went driving around Westgate/Hilltop over the weekend just to check it out and ended up at the intersection of Broad and Georgesville Rd. It was depressing, I couldn't wait to turn around.

That corner is totally depressing, especially when you remember what it used to be.

Was this your first trip to the Hilltop? If so, what were your thoughts?

It's a trick question. I-270 doesn't even HAVE corners.

Right and they would be since they came from two different posts as noted above I was trying to be more positive about it in the second post, but you seem to enjoy selective reading and quoting today. ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s all good

I'm going to have to agree with the Brice Rd/Georgesville Rd line of thought---the burnt out suburban areas that haven't (yet) been embraced by immigrants.

Actually, the Westside is very immigrant rich - I think that the properties at that corner of West Broad and Georgesville, and along West Broad proper are just such large spaces that the average start up can't pop in there. Georgesville used to have a great Mexican market - and if you turn there onto Sullivant, you'd encounter Somali/African tea shops and restaurants, Mexican markets, taco trucks, a Mexican bakery, a couple of Asian markets, and so on. It's amazingly diverse for about a mile stretch of road. It's just that the buildings are older and a bit dismal, and so they are easy to overlook.

While there certainly are positives in the area, the OP asked for the worst corner. Two used car lots, an abandoned car dealership and a vacant lot where an adult bookstore once stood doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Is that where the Westland mall was? I've lived here since 2004 and only in Victorian Village so I'm not familiar.
Not my first trip to the Hilltop. I volunteer at VoiceCorp on W Broad at Binns, but I've never had time to explore the side streets. I liked it for the most part. Definitely some interesting houses and lots of pizza. ;)

E 5th & St Clair: home to Mally Gal's Lounge. A brief walk here will depress the hell out of you. Not an intersection, but I vote E 5th Ave for the saddest street in Columbus. take it start to finish from High to the airport or vice-versa for a happier ending with the Short North as your destination.

just went that way yesterday both ways trying to find a scooter-friendly route from whitehall to the short north. it's a direct route but i can't get too excited about it either.

kinda sucks though, no matter what corner you pick, it's someone's home & it's the best they can do at the time. just saying, once you actually LIVE in a neighborhood, it looks completely different than when you drive through it with the doors locked and the windows rolled up. I've lived in several places now that at one point in my life i thought were terrifying.
