Looking to buy a neti pot here in Columbus. Would enjoy a selection of colors to choose from... anyone here know where I can pick one up around town? I need to flush my face.
Thanks.

I'm a bit embarrassed that I know this, but Clintonville Community Market has them. Only in white, sorry
I saw them behind the pharmacy counter at Target a couple weeks ago. I think it was blue.

Here is an informative video made by Drew from Toothpaste For Dinner. Believe it or not, I think this got mentioned in a New York Times article.
Thanks much guys- I guess I didn't consider them mainstream enough yet to be at Target and CVS... but I'll probably get one from the CCM.
I'm going to have a hard time getting that picture out of my head....
Whole Foods on Lane Ave has them and so do some little health food stores. You can also order from banyanbotanicals.com and momentum health.
This time of year it is especially great to do with all of the allergens that come with warmer temperatures.
You can also order nasal oils that help with sinus and allergy situations.
Why would you use this contraption??? What are the benifits? Can't you just blow your nose with kleenex?
Found it - here's the NYT article:
My eyes water looking at those pics. I don't know if I could do that. My nose does get pretty itchy in the spring time though. I'm willing to try anything once (as long as nobody is watching).
Looks like a fast-track to a bad sinus infection.... The only thing you should put up your nose is your elbow....
I just have really connected sinuses; If I laugh while drinking I get all the benefits of the netti pot with coffee, milk, juice or water. I really hate it when it happens with carbonated beverages and tequila. I suppose it is because the saline solution isn't quite right with tequila.

I've never had the -er- pleasure of using a Neti pot, but blowing your nose is actually bad for you. A few years ago, I had corrective sinus surgery and my ENT Dr. instructed me to refrain from blowing my nose for an entire year, but preferably for the rest of my life! I think I actually remember having a conversation with him that it is better to snort the snot up than blow it out. Hm. I should have eaten breakfast before I started writing this.
At any rate, here is a link I found (sorry it's not from a scientific source, but it reitereates what my Doc told me) which includes info on the hows and why nots of nose-blowing: http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-(and-How-Not-to)-Sneeze-and-Blow-Your-Nose&id=127826

Opposite, this is what helps us with chronic sinusitis :)
this is gross.
that is all.

"common practice in parts of India and other areas in South East Asia, performed as routinely as brushing one's teeth using a toothbrush."
:!:
got mine yesterday from Clintonville Community Market - $11.99, w/o salt. CVS had them for closer to 20 bucks. I recommend doing it in the shower first. no pun intended.
thanks for all the help, I'm breathing easy today.
:)

Ironically, was at whole foods picking up some wasabi crackers, and saw the neti pot - Ceramic, "improved design" (LOL, the old design must have been lacking LOL), $16 clams
The look at that womans face resembles how I feel when I step on a hairball at 2am.

It's just the same principle as saline nasal spray, except a whole lot of it, and wherever salt goes, water follows. So if you have sinusitis irritated by dry air (common in winter with all the windows shut), the saline keeps the sinus passages nice and humid. However, just like with nasal spray, I wouldn't do this very often, only when direly necessary. God made our nostrils inaccessible for a reason :)
It can really be a lifesaver for those with chronic sinus stuff---- AAAH relief. It doesn't hurt or anything. I'd consider it about the same level of grossness as putting in contact lenses the first time--- "You mean I have to TOUCH my EYEBALL?", etc.
Good stuff, considering my sinuses are a lot like the Winchester house.
And yes, it is gross. Do not do it around anyone you ever want to see again. Try to forget about it as soon as you are done
