I'll add myself to the list, but this might be a short thread.
My favorite current performer is Corey Harris. His first two releases were traditional, solo acoustic. The next few were full band reworkings/modernizations of the music. He did a collaboration with Ali Farka Toure in Africa for the Martin Scorsese PBS blues series. His most recent is a reggae disc that, according to reggae fans that reviewed it on Amazon, is one of the best new reggae releases for some time.
The Gahanna Creekside Blues festival is coming up June 20-22. I recommend checking out the Watermelon Slim show Saturday night.
R.L. Burnside, and Fat Possum records in general, has some great non-traditional stuff. The Black Keys' Thickfreakness was on Fat Possum.
Muddy Waters is a giant.
I'm a fan of the older traditional stuff - Robert Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mississippi John Hurt etc.
