The brutality of your choices and their consequences are so good. Shame more games don't make your decisions that real and important.

Most importantly they don't go with the "good answer/bad answer" trope that plagues most games. Once you pick the "light" or "dark" side on games Mass Effect, you don't really care at all, you just start mindlessly choosing your appropriate answer based on the path you chose.
In The Walking Dead there is tons of grey area, no right or wrong responses, and the answers you give don't trigger an obvious outcome.
A shame more games don't do this.

Yeah, I love how ambiguous it is. When I got to the part where we found the starved child turned zombie in the attic, I decided that I'd step up and take care of killing it and burying it. As I was burying it, I thought the repetitive motions for shoveling the dirt was a little silly, but it gave me a second to think and realize that maybe I should have had Kenny do it and give him the chance to grieve for his recently dead son and go through that ritual of burial and hopefully be at peace with it. But it was too late as I had already made the choice. Kenny has continued to be a bit on edge since then and took to drinking when we got back to the house again and while the story continues to progress I can't help but wonder if things would have been different if I would have made that choice differently.
And of course, that's just one example of dozens where this game has gotten me thinking about the emotions of the characters and interactions between them.
If only they could make a good TV show about this game. ;)

Bought the new Devil May Cry reboot two days ago. Been playing a lot of it.
Some of the tightest hack & slash gameplay I've ever played. Insane amount of weapons/combos/juggling craziness. Surprisingly good story that is interesting but easy to digest. Usually these games are a convoluted crazy japanese wut?-fest.
A glimpse of the combat around 2min in. You unlock even more weapons/moves further in the game.

Ascension is on sale for .99 in the AppStore for those who haven't gotten on the bandwagon yet.
CFDEngine15 for any who want a match.
Just finished Assassin's Creed 3 and started up Dishonored.
And this is a beta weekend for SimCity for all the repressed urban planners.

I really enjoyed both. Dishonored felt like some new elements in a game I haven't seen before, and while Assassin's Creed has always included a lot of real historical elements, this one is history I was more familiar with.

is the dlc worth getting? How many of the characters have you played thru?I finished the new DLC and most of the missions with my Commando in about 10 hours. Many new elemental based creatures to challenge and of course all kinds of lootable areas.
Overall a fun add-on, since I bought the season pass for this game I won't debate the cost/worth value but, i'll be running my other characters through it in the future.
Borderlands 2 has been one my personal favs of 2012, great gameplay, voice acting, wicked sense of humor and bazillions of guns.

If you never tried it, give bayonetta a try sometime. It's a couple of years old, so you can nab it dirt cheap used, but as far as that kind of game play goes, one of the smoothest I ever played. Mind you, the story is TOTAL "convoluted crazy Japanese wut?" but an absolute blast with some really subtle humor...

It just didn't click with me at all. Way too much Japanese weirdo shit. I hate when it's impossible to figure out the story, and I hate games that are filled with cityscapes with empty streets, it just pulls you right out of any immersion.
The gameplay was fun, but the combat was almost too deep and crazy for me, if that's possible.
I know many people loved it. I tried to. It just wasn't for me I guess.

Temple Run 2, bitches!Heh. I saw that there was a 13 minute gameplay trailer released the other day, and all I could think was that I never had a run in the first game longer than 2 minutes. :(

Megamania, 2600 - This Space Invaders-ish, Galaga-ish, Centepede-ish game came recommended to me by someone, so when it turned up I put it in my 7800 and fired it up. One of the main selling points of the game is that the stuff that you're shooting at is weird such as hamburgers and dice. But this is 2600, so sometimes imagination is required when looking at shapes -- which is fine with me. In this case, I couldn't tell what anything was. "Was that a cracker that just killed me?" Also, the baddies' patterns were a bit too unpredictable for me and got me killed a lot. Since I've already got the three games listed above, I can satisfy my need for weird sprites (and getting killed a lot) with Fast Food, a game with a mouth that must chow down on as many well-drawn burgers and fries as possible while avoiding deadly health food. I don't really need need Megamania even though it's got one of those mega-'80s Activsion boxes.

Helped someone move and they were throwing out a Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64. I just wanted to see if it worked and spent an hour playing it. The graphics are surprisingly good considering how old it is - 15 plus years.

After I beat it I'll be onward to Metroid Prime 2 and 3 because I never played them that much for some reason.

We play Mario 64 quite a bit through the Wii Virtual Console. The graphics hold up ok, but the 3D controls are pretty crude making gameplay pretty unforgiving at times. Give Super Mario Galaxy 2 a whirl sometime, and the controls feel silky smooth by comparison.
I may have mentioned it awhile back, but Luigi's Mansion is another game that has held up well for being 12 years old. Nice graphics, lighting effects, particle effects and it's pretty fun to boot. The long-awaited sequel to it drops for the 3DS at the end of March, which I'd totally buy if I owned a 3DS. ;)

I will happily sell anyone my 3DS. Haven't touched it in ages.
