Not to derail, but have you seen the taco trucks in LA that update their locations with twitter? Someone should help our local dudes.

Kogi is pretty famous as mobile food trucks go.. A good part of that is the inventive "LA Fusion" style menu.. Korean BBQ taco? I'm in! I wanted to try this last time I was in LA, but I ran out of time..
As for the local taco truck dudes? I guess.. I think a lot of those guys are pretty old school.. maybe you could get them to twitter, but you'd probably have to explain it to them.. Maybe wait till summer when their kids are around..
As Bear pointed out, they don't move often, so it's maybe not as necessary here in Columbus..

I went to this place on Sinclair, just north of Morse on the West side of the street the other day. The name escapes me right now, but it was pretty damn good. Birria was excellent.La Hacienda?
La Hacienda Real is my vote for sure. Awesome food. Bucket sized margaritas. Good stuff.
We asked one of the taco truck owners where he liked to go out for Mexican food and he said La Hacindenda Real, although he then admitted that he didn't really like to go out for Mexican food and he prefers Applebees.
I had heard too much about Cucos before I went there, and it didn't live up to my expectations. I might go again and try something else, but for tacos some of the trucks are better.
Just tried Cuco's tonight for the first time and I will definitely go back. I had the Burrito Don Cuco and it was stuffed full of grilled chicken and chorizo and light on the filler beans and rice. It was absolutely delicious and I look forward to a return trip to try other things.
I got one of those bottles of the Valentina hot sauce they have on the tables too. Great stuff.

I don't care what people think. I'll mow down on Vaquero's carnitas or (huge) fajita quesadilla any day of the week. Their "hot sauce" that comes in a bowl if you ask for it is one of my favorite things on earth.
Mmmmmmmm, the 147 (fajita quesadilla) is the best thing ever. I see a trip to El Vaq in my near future.
El Mariachi is the most authentic one I've found: 4740 E Main St, Whitehall, OH. (614) 868-1669. $10 per capita for comida corrida style meal. I haven't checked out the taco trucks yet, but I bet they have a lot to offer.
+1 for Chile Verde and Cuco's
As for Cuco's, don't forget to get the BOGO coupon from their website - http://www.cucostaqueria.com/
Our first choice is always Chile Verde, though - yes it's a bit different, New Mexican. We've been going there for 16+ years, almost from their beginning. And they've just expanded tot he storefront next door, so they have plenty of seating now.
I too am a big fan of Chile Verde, though everyone is correct that it's not truly authentic Mexican. I live less than a mile from Cuco and have never been there. Will have to make it a point to check it out.
For Cuco's, try to avoid the lunch rush, they usually get slammed.
And don't miss the little salsa bar up front!

I just tried a fajita quesadilla this weekend from there it was good ! Different from my usual 151 chicken enchiladas with green instead of red sauce.

Yep, The Cowboy kicks ass.
Went to Azteca's on Friday night. There were four of us, three of which had never been. It was yummy. They have a guacamole cart they wheel around and make your guac STAT! Margaritas were good. It is north of Graceland on High Street.
Anyone know what happened to La Hacienda Real? I noticed it looked dead one afternoon last week; I chalked it up to being a dead afternoon. But driving by last night at 7:30 it was definitely closed. Hopefully it's temporary?

I've noticed that they either are on vacation or have closed for some reason as well. They didn't seem to draw much of a crowd except when that strip of hotels was busy. I wasn't fond of the food on my last few trips, and prefer Fiesta Jalisco not far away, or Michocana on Morse Road.
Their website is still active:

I'm a huge fan of both Cuco's (love their ceviche, and they're the only place that I know of in Columbus that makes real fried ice cream) and La Casita (highly recommend the fish tacos and the birria).
Everywhere else I'm fairly meh on - I tend to prefer authentic Mexican food (the kind you can get at the taco trucks) rather than American-style, FWIW.
What do you mean by "real" fried ice cream?
