Thanks to the outpouring of support over Everyonebikes! Thought people might want to see how the bikes look so here are the few parked on my block right now.

looks nice, here's to a successful and troublefree launch..

Love it!
One thing you might consider (pop over to Yay Bikes!, you'll get all the help you can) is having maps to the other neighborhoods that people could check out with the bikes-I assume one of the big targets for this might be some of the convention folks and tourists. Something simple showing the easiest way to get to German Village or King Lincoln or Clintonville or other surrounding 'hoods. Laminate it and zip tie a binder clip on the stem to hold it. You could even have a sharpie for them to write out directions or specifics on something.

I was helping Pedal Instead with the bike corral at the Community Garden Association event today when the group on the Gears and Garden tour came back. They had a few of these that they had borrowed for folks in from out of town to do the tour. Had a chance to ride on of the single speeds around the loop a couple times and it was great. Fun bike, easy to ride and comfy.
Loved the integrated lock-do you have a separate lock that also goes with the bike?
Another thing-though, given the cost I can understand-that would encourage more (and safer use) would be lights for night riding.

We probably will incorporate lights in the fall when it starts getting dark earlier. A u-lock should be provided with every bike. The incorporated lock is sweet, and will discourage ride-offs, but could definitely be thrown into a truck.
I was quite encouraged by how many I saw riding around the neighborhood today. The first few days were pretty slow, but I realize it's taking the public a while to actually understand they are allowed to borrow these bikes. Once we add more in a couple of weeks I expect the program to really take off!Posted 2 years ago # -
Maybe you already do this, but having a sign or a window sticker on participating businesses might help with the visibility and publicity.

what's up with the Piratbyrån logo?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Good stuff! Have you considered extending the reservation past two hours? What if someone decides to grab some grub, or what not?
Posted 2 years ago # -
This is just awesome, what a great idea! Congratulations on a successful launch, I can't wait to borrow a bike!

Thanks @asil! @ehill27 we are going to extend the time as soon as we have more bikes on the street, which should be in a couple of weeks. We're also considering letting you drop off the bike at any participant.

A little worried about the direction the dispatch forum comments are going.

Yeah, I was feeling like they were turning but I think I was wrong. Especially with people like Andrew jumping to our defense!

what's up with the Piratbyrån logo? The PiratByran logo has been ripped by What the Rock, a retail store. At first, as a huge TPB fan I was really bothered. But then I realized PiratByran probably wouldn't care due to fair use but still: seems like a sleazy bit of lazy on the part of the store.

"Also I would not necessarily endorse hitting the bars while your on a bike."
Hah! You'd make a great politician!
The point about the id's is a good one though. Sometimes they check id's when you use credit cards. Can't you do just a credit authorization or something?
Top redneck dispatch comment so far:
"100 more bicycles to beware of while driving an auto, or trying to walk down a sidewalk, now that's just what we need. "Posted 2 years ago # -
The redneck has a point. As I said in another thread on this topic, I think at the very least a brochure on bicycle riding laws/safety should be given to renters. Someone who doesn't have a bike probably hasn't ridden one in a long time, and will almost certainly be riding on the sidewalk out of fear. And If they're on the roads, let's hope they don't ride by example when they see a typical High St bike rider.
I also think helmets should be available for use, but that idea was shot down (probably because of the additional cost). It will be interesting to see what happens when the first person crashes into something and hits their head. Do people have to sign a release form with the bikes saying they have to provide their own safety equipment like lights and helmets? I'm no lawyer, but I'd think you are opening yourself to a liability suit if not.
I'm not just trying to be negative. I think this is a great idea and I'm glad to see it succeeding so far.

i got a chance to hop on ladybird's bike today, SO MUCH FUN to ride! steady ride, and the one speed makes it a nice and simple operation. i can definitely see myself borrowing ladybird's bike on a regular basis for a quick trip to giant eagle or maybe even luck bros.
