This is a video that my office and another one on campus put together for a recruitment piece. Though you guys/gals might like to see it because is has a little blurb about Columbus.

Very well paced and produced. I enjoyed the shots of the west campus cricket players. Good job!
I really liked this --- I'm not from here, didn't go to Ohio State, and am always a bit nonplussed at the... a-hem... rabidity of alumni. This video does a nice job of explaining it. Heh. :)
Very nice - makes me want to go back to school. I had a great undergrad experience in the '80's and always look back fondly. I've been able to work on a number of design projects on campus over the years and now my daughter is a freshman! Time flies....
what a great video!
I'm curious, to whom is it targeted? Students who might choose an upper-tier (or whatever) school or just a general outreach?
Well done.
I am astounded by all the locations and spaces which are completely new to me.
A.
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Very nice. It gave me chills.

This will be shown to all students that have been admitted and invited to campus for a visit event.
I'm sure we'll use it in other ways, but that is the main focus.
Really great video! As an alumnae, I was reminded of why I love OSU. I think it would work well for development efforts too.
It's a really great video! Brings back memories, but there are a lot of new buildings now!
Using it as inspiration for my students here in Japan.
Btw, what is the music you use? Can I get it online? I'll buy it! :-)
i'm an osu alumnus and i must politely disagree with this video. it's very, very dishonest. it's pure propaganda aimed at gullible people that don't know any better. it ignores the main function that any college should focus on- the education. this video doesn't even mention anything about the education you will receive, which coming from OSU is horrendous. over 90% of people that will go to OSU will have a worthless degree and they will learn next to nothing. for the most part, a college degree is the new high school diploma.
if this video was honest, then it would state the following:
- don't go to OSU unless someone else pays for it and definitely don't take out student loans to pay for it or else you will regret it for the rest of your life
- you will be treated like a customer instead of a student b/c OSU cares ALOT more about profit than education
- your tuition money won't go towards receiving a proper education. it will go towards paying the overpaid/underperforming administrators to build the school into a country club more than a learning institution, paying the professors to do research instead of actual teaching, and many other costs that have NOTHING to do with learning
- most of the professors that do teach you would much rather be doing research or writing a book and could care less about your education
- you will be mostly taught by part-time adjunct faculty that makes very crappy wages
- your degree will be meaningless in the real world, unless it's a prelude to some kind of graduate degree like law, pharmacy, engineering, or medicine [NOT business]
- it's not what you know, or where you go to school that will get you a job, nepotism is all that matters in the real world
if anything, this video proves that OSU is a cult.
He lost me at "ALOT."
Way to "politely disagree" then proceed to totally tear apart and possibly offend not only Vestanpance, but alumni, and faculty members. Some of whom are very distinguished in their field.
As a fellow alumnus, I respectfully disagree with you, mindtwin.
Great video, Vestanpance!

So...its college....OSU is a college.
A gazillion % of people disagree with mindtwin. (Since I disagree, my statistics must be accurate.)
I think most of those criticisms could apply to any university. I seriously don't think that the "country club" mentality is unique to OSU. And what's wrong with research? It's what brings notoriety, jobs, money, etc to the school. It's what keeps professors passionate about their career instead of just dealing with kids who cram for exams and then forget everything a day later.
At a big school like OSU, college is what you make it. If you want professors and people to help you, you have to ask them to do it. If you're not learning something that you feel you should, speak out or start a club focused on it. They'll give you money to do it. That's what I did.
I do agree that undergrad degrees are quickly becoming high school diplomas (in a way), but that's a sign of the times, not a failing of OSU exclusively. Cool discussion though.
