ha I love that mr. peanut sign as well! And the fact that apparently some sort
of peanut operation still runs out of the building?!Posted 2 years ago # -
How long will this be going on? I have a few things that I would like to add but won't be able to get around to it for a few days.

The form is a little annoying - in that you can't easily enter more than one and doesn't refresh itself.
I have too many.....
North Market
Topiary Garden
Main Library
Leveque Tower
Supreme Court Building
the huge scale at COSI
Franklin Park Conservatory (and the sculpture there)
The Dispatch sign
etc etcPosted 2 years ago # -
It is just for downtown but it also includes views.

I like the view from The River Club Restaurant Patio at Confluence Park.

Yay! I've been mentally compiling this list since we moved.
1. My new job.
2. The restaurants.
3. You can buy alcohol on Sundays.
4. North Market
5. The artsy, indie scene & always finding new stuff I want to check out.
6. No one has asked me to come to their church since we moved.
7. A stronger economy.
8. People live better (consequence of #7, most likely)
9. Entertaining things that are so immediately available (as opposed to the 60-mile drive to Nashville we were making pre-move.)
10. So much pretty. Pretty parks. Pretty neighborhoods.
11. Much, MUCH better grocery stores than anywhere else I've lived
12. A good selection of theatres that play good films (yay, Drexel!)
13. Buckeye candy (for my S.O. more than me, but he loves it)
14. Can I list restaurants again?
15. General Convenience (all-encompassing)
16. Food trucksPosted 2 years ago # -

15th largest city in the U.S.; big enough to be reasonably cosmopolitan, small enough to get from one end to the other in 30 minutes most days. A clean, friendly, comfortable, 2nd tier city.
Many wonderful, eclectic restaurants, a wide variety of arts, sports, parks, and a world-class zoo. Situated within 500 miles of about half the population of the U.S.
Instead of smokestacks, we have a diverse, service-based economy complemented by being the center of state government and site of numerous educational institutions, hospitals, and research/technology companies.
We may not have mountains or beaches, but we're only a short trip from them. This a great place to reside, raise a family, or just enjoy life!

Many things. Even more than here or here.

um, wasn't this a mapping project?

I think it's a map for a walking tour of downtown

Taco trucks...

is there any plan to allow people to tag the map themselves?

One of my favorite things is some of the odd juxtapositions. Especially in the Short North. For example - The Garden across the street from a wacko Christian compound.

The People.

High Street
The affordability of our restaurants
The Bike Trails

@Bear, right now we are creating a database for the maps so we are compiling all sorts of favorite spots.
Our goal is that you will be able to create your own custom map based on what you are looking for or looking to do. You might want to walk through German Village and choose to visit all the ice cream shops, historical markers and gardens. Someone else might choose to visit downtown and is looking for all the public art pieces, historical buildings and Italian restaurants in the area. A visitor to the Short North might want to know where each gallery is and where they can get martinis.
The options could be endless: oddities, architecture, cool views, interesting buildings, wine bars, whatever.
The end goal is to encourage more people to walk around Columbus and check out our districts and neighborhoods.
Love reading the responses, this is a great thread! Hope many of you are filling out the ballot above too!
