Some friends and I went to Level last night and had a blast! I have not had a chance to try the food yet. I'm just glad to have another option on High st. other than Union and Havana. Even though Im still gonna go to U. I like Level better for one single reason. I don’t get bumped every 10 seconds by people trying to get to the other side of the bar. Highlight of the night? Seeing senior crawlers making it all the way down from campus (those guys are troopers) then tripping over the furniture upstairs. And hooking my straight buddy up with the hottest girl in the bar (He owes me one next time we go into a straight bar).

I like that they kept the website simple and pleasing to the eye. As for the crowd, there are 2 things I cant take anymore:
1. Drunk college students
2. Places that are so packed I cant get a drink or relaxIn the first post they talked about senior crawlers in there. Please tell me this is the exception and not the rule.
BTW, my favorite atmosphere (most of the time), Club 185 in German Village.

Level Dining Lounge Reviews on YelpI think it's too early to review Level, but I did have a laugh at this:
A Yelper wrote: In the end, maybe Level did steal trade secrets from U. An uninterested, unexcited, can't-be-bothered management and staff.
I'd only been a few times to U, but that's how it seemed to me..

Thanks, and I have to agree with the one negative post on Yelp where they talk about the waiting staff (as far as it can ruin a place).
Case in point was Black Olive. Had the worst waiter ever and haven't gone back since. I dont care if you serve the worlds best food; that's only %50 of the reason I go out to eat.
So I'm looking forward to trying it, but still wondering about the crowd in general.

Yah. Ive been back since and the crowd is much more diverse. If you go before 11pm its usually pretty laid back. It gets much more busy after that.

I had lunch there last week. The staff was really cool and friendly. The food was good and they had a decent wine list. My gripe is the music (I'm not a fan of the defacto gay house music) and televisions screaming at you. I couldn't imagine trying to conduct a business lunch with that level of distraction. That said, if I'm forced into a position where I don't have much interest in talking to my dining mates (happens) it'll be first on my list.

The bartenders told me they are planning on having a DJay in a week or so instead of the screaming divas. Doesn’t help with lunch but take it for what its worth

I've had two decent dinners there now. I had the creamy cajun chicken with wild rice and green beans. Chicken & rice were excellent, beans- meh. Service was excellent as well. I agree the tired Britney remixes-typical default gay bar song list is so tired, but over all the group I was with enjoyed the place and we will go back again. Union should take note, especially after a recent disastrous food tasting they held, don't try to flaunt and serve upscale food your kitchen isn't capable of pulling off. Stick to what you know-drinks and decent bar food, and leave the rest to those who already do it better.

The drinks are strong, the atmosphere is generally pretty relaxed, and the competition is sparse.
The down side is constantly being asked "Are you sure you're straight?"
I have an inappropriate, but funny story about this.
