Depends on the size and type of box you are looking for.
Liquor stores/drive through stores are a great start for smaller capacity boxes (under 2 cubic feet).Posted 2 years ago # -
What about bigger? I need plenty; I'm moving.

One bit of advice: get identical boxes so they will stack uniformly, like shipping containers.
You can pack a lot with the boxes that the prepared salads come in, and if you happen to hit when they're restocking you can get a stack of them folded flat.

i ship big stuff that isn't heavy,so once a week,i hit the Walmart and Marc's in the morning on my Tim Horton's run.
i am sure kroger's and other stores do the same.
just snag them right off their cart, they are already broken down.

Egg boxes from grocery stores are good for moving. Go to a few stores and ask. The first time you talk with the person who stocks the eggs they will tell you the best time to stop by to get them every day (if there is a best time; sometimes there is and sometimes there is not). The stock person may even start keeping the boxes set aside for you if you keep coming back at the same time every day.
I once got a dozen boxes in a single visit; usually I would only get 2 or 3. But if you go back every day for a week, that adds up.

Book stores.

Trader Joe's.
It helps if you call in the morning and ask them to set them aside for you during the day, then go pick them up in the evening.

Any of our restaurants on a Tuesday or Friday, call ahead in the morning so we don't break them down. Oh, and you have to recycle them when you're done! ; )

Oh yeah, I had a bunch of egg boxes from Kroger -- they were great. Good size, and they had handles.

Egg and liquor/wine/beer boxes are the best!

I am kicking myself over this, because we had a *ton* of boxes from our own move that I was going to hold onto and offer up on freecycle or craigslist (which could be two other resources for ya) and between obsessive watching of Hoarders and the urging of my husband, I decided to recycle 'em instead. Never again.

Of course, if anyone has any handy, you can certainly PM me. I'll be happy to pick them up.
