Although I think I like the song better without the visuals --the circus-like performers distract from the power of the lyrics.
Get the Video Widget For this one, conversely, the video makes it for me. What makes this wonderful is the bitter irony of the title and the imagery --the singer's deep depression can't be disguised by the party atmosphere. A real metaphor for modern pop culture.Get the Video Widget Twixlen wrote >>
Right this very moment I'm listening to Obligatory Villages by Nellie McKay.I've had Politan on heavy rotation for a year now.
@kbear. Loved that Freelance Whales song you posted. Never heard of them before. I loved how geeked out on the music they were, and how defiantly uncool the whole thing was.

Double Fantasy Stripped Down. Ono and Douglas brought Lennon's voice way up in the mix and took out the double tracking and background vocals. Side one is excellent. Side two sounds like they abandoned the project.
Belle and Sebastian - Write About Love. The first record in which B&S actually sounds like a band instead of Stuart Murdoch's dream.
Robert Plant - Band of Joy. Buddy Miller's production and guitar work add a lot of grit. This is a fantastic record.

not sure if that works, but its Bruce Hornsby playing Little Wing on piano and its one of my favorite things in the world, because he's basically figuring it out as he plays it.
