Since there seems to be an abundance of Westsiders on here, I'd like to get recommendations for any and all types of decent/good restaurants on our side of town. I've got pizza covered by hitting either Massey's, Joseppi's, or Josie's. I've also had breakfast a few times at TeeJayes.
Golden Chopsticks isn't bad for cheap chinese. I thought Mings was ok but Betsy wasn't too pleased with her dish.
Has anyone eaten at York's Steakhouse? The reviews don't look too bad but the facade always leaves me wondering.
Can anyone recommend any local restaurants or local chains out here?

Every time I drive through the west side I admire the little mobile taco carts. I've always wanted to stop to grab a bite but either wasn't hungry or in a hurry.
Anyone tried any of those? Probably pretty authentic. :D

I have tried a few of them, some are better than others, they are all ok, but not the best things on earth. If you do not want to head that far west you can try on on Fifth Ave. close to neil there is sometimes one there at the little mexican corner store.

It's been awhile since I've been there but the Lindo Restaurant, 3203 Sullivant had an eclectic mix of Mexican and Cambodian and was reasonably priced.

Not sure about the west side taco trailers, but there si one on Morse Rd. that is Great. You are in deed correct about how authentic they are and DAMN good as well. The prices are very fair most of the time as well.

That's the one I was going to suggest, too.
IMHO, the Cambodian dishes are better than the Mexican, but the Mexican is passable.

Avoid Florentine at all costs. I'm not sure what they served me, but they called it italian food.
Starliner is good, and I've heard good things about Salvi's Bistro, but after living out there for a year, we never gave it a shot.

i've worked on the west side of columbus near phillipi and broad for over 5 years so i've been just about everywhere for lunch. my suggestions:
1. la plaza tapatia - it's a combination mexican grocery and restaurant in the strip mall behind westland mall. very good, authentic meals for lunch, not sure about dinner. if you ask they will make salsa while you wait. i have no idea what's in it, and sometimes it has a fishy taste, but it's really good.
2. george's - american food from a business that's been on the west side for many years. family owned with burgers, gyro's, etc. also near westland mall on georgesville.
3. they just opened a la bamba on georgesville across from the rally's.
4. if you go across i-270 on georgesville there's another good mexican place (la fiesta mariachi?) along with applebees, o'charleys, bw3, red lobster, chipotle, LJS, etc. that's your best bet if you're looking for chains.
5. if you don't mind driving up rome-hilliard there's a bar/restaurant that serves some of the best wings in columbus, roadhouse (not the chain). another family owned place.

Greek village in the old donut store just east of wilson rd. is great. It's the same owners form the campus location with better prices.

by the way, look at the neon sign for golden chopsticks. it says "chniese food". that's a red flag for me. i've never eaten there and don't plan on it if they can't spell their own specialty.

hehe...that's funny. I've only had it twice and it was ok. Not great but pretty cheap so I can't complain too much.
Thanks for the other suggestions, Mike. I'll give la plaza tapatia and george's a try. And I think I've seen that roadhouse (isn't it near El Vaquero?) but I thought it was the chain steakhouse place.
I've been over to Georgesville square, but was trying to find non chain places, since I already have a good idea of what to expect.

roadhouse is actually further up the road, past chik-fil-a, across the street from the new strip mall with hooter's, etc. eat up!!

I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal at Spaghetti Warehouse. Nothing too special, but lots of food for not much money and consistently good service.

Yea, I've been there before. Not bad at all.
I also like Philip's, across the street. Too bad they close at like 6PM.

If you zip out a little further, you can get pie at Henry's in West Jeff.
Worth the detour, though the rest of the menu is not.

haha i actually agree with that also.
really the only 2 places i have eaten in franklinton are grandma's pizza and bambino's pizzs both are pretty good grandma's is on broad, and bambinos is on sullivant, and bambino's even delivers all the way to grandview.

I like Ann and Tony's in West Jeff (grew up going there- "this is the same high chair we put your grandma in.")
Starliner Diner and Otie's in Hilliard
Vito's, Zamerilli's and Lilly's in Grove City
Nothing Gourmet, but... good all the same

I was wondering about the greek places near us, I am always up for a good gyro. Honestly, I was not impressed with Starliner Diner. I felt like I was going to fall out of my rickety chair, the service was terrible, and my food wasn't good. Anyone eat at the Yard Club? I think it may have a new name name now. I wish we had a place more like the Brown Bag where you can get some good sandwiches or a place like Olde Mohawk where there is a miscellaneous menu(but all pretty good dishes).
Mike, I tried the Fiesta Mariachi place tonight and it was not too bad, pretty cheap too.
