Scholarship aid helps them more, and the professors are not going to be starving if they gouge their students more, particularly those without parents able to shoulder the load. And parents like that are getting rarer as the burdens get heavier (both tuition burdens and the parents' own financial struggles).

It looks like Medicaid expansion likely won’t be part of the proposed two year state budget that will come out of the Ohio Senate. Governor John Kasich, Business leaders and even Democrats want Medicaid expansion in the Ohio Budget. But Republican Ohio Senate President Keith Faber said that’s unlikely.

But mainly just for people who had an inexpensive product to start with that has a high deductible and high-co pays, not for everyone. I have one of those cheaper plans, with a 20% co-pay and started thinking that if I got really sick and racked up a $2.5 million hospital bill (not difficult) I'd still be out half a million and would have to dig into the indigent fund that we're all already paying for. It's probably for the better.

Hey, we could have had a lot of federal money so people above the poverty line could get into Medicaid. But the republican Ohio House said no. So you can thank them.

Unchanged, except that those of us who are uninsured, who are denied coverage now, will at least be eligible for *something.* I'm very interested to know what that *something* is & what it will cost.

True and I don't want to minimize that. I think this is going to be a literal lifesaver for many people. I was more focused on the end of the world hysteria some people have put around this. (not dissimilar to predictions about social security)

But the bottom line is this: President Obama and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised that premiums would go down for those who already have insurance. And yes, for those lower-income folks who benefit from the subsidies provided by other taxpayers, the costs they see may go down. But middle-class Ohioans will pay more in taxes to pay for those subsidies, and more in premiums. It will be interesting to see how those Ohioans feel about that.
