hello I am new to this site and somewhat new to Columbus. Pretty neat site you have here. As for me I am the President of Nautilus Aquatics LLC and Captain Blackjacks LLC
A little about me....I have 28 years of experience in aquariums, I have been doing them professionally for the better part of 20 years. I am one of the few in the country who does successful jellyfish aquariums, temperate (cold water) marine aquariums among other things. My company Nautilus Aquatics LLC provides the best of the best in the way of aquarium design and service. Our other company Captain Blackjacks LLC is a line of aquarium products which we sell online and is quite popuar on the west coast and in Canada. We also are an aquaculture facility for the breeding of seahorses and jellyfish.
One of our more unusual jobs can be seen at hounddogs pizza on north high. The 600 gallon glass tank in there had some problems with leaks and I gave the owner a few options and we decided to go with a natural vivarium. this is part land and part water with fiddler crabs and mudskippers. The mudskippers will be in by next week, and it is inspired by Indiana Jones. You may even see Indy if you go look at the tank.
I also have experience in the professional film industry as a special makeup fx artist and an assistant director on feature films and documentaries. I am listed on the IMDB and several projects I have worked on have gone to Sundance Film Fest and done quite well, or the LA Film Fest and done very well as well as some seeing international release. I mainly run my aquarium trade businesses now however.

I have been a big fan of CU and Walker Evans since he started CU, and have finally joined the "blogishpere" [spelling?]! With the exception of a couple years here and there, I am a lifelong resident of central Ohio having grown up in Bexley, as did my wife of nearly 29 years (Nancy), and then raising our four children there as well. Through all this tme we have enjoyed the many flavors and festivities that our fine city provides. In 2010 we moved (back) to German Village where we currently reside and find ourselves ever more immersed in urban living. We love central Ohio and only the most extrreme causes would cause us to move.
With all that said, I rediscovered CU recently and am thrilled to have done so. Its a great source of information and knowledge, really! I have a very diverse background, both personally and professionally, and now make CU a part of my daily routine. I look forward to the occasional posting on topics and issues I find relevant, so thanks again to Walker and Family for having carried the torch thus far!

Hi. Just started posting here. My name is John and I am starting an events company, FYF Events. My concept is simple: Creative, fun events are the wave of the future. Social media marketing is less exciting than a 1950s Look Magazine ad. People today want to do things then post them on their social media sites. That is the future of marketing.
I am having an event on March 9. It is the 6th Annual Red Light/Green Light Party. You wear red if you are married or in a relationship and green if you are single. Conspiracy, Donna Mogavaro and the McGory Brothers are playing. All proceeds go to the Mid Ohio Food Bank. Last year we raised enough money for the food bank to buy 10,451 meals for hungry central Ohio families. Way cool
The party is March 9, 6 till midnight, 3rd floor Bag of Nails in Westerville. Let me know if you have any great event ideas and let's see what we can do to make it happen. John

Good Morning (technically speaking)!
I've been reading CU for about 6 months now and have really come to admire the kind of news and information that is provided. I'm currently sleeping in SE Cbus, just off Hamilton Road, near Eastland Mall. Soon, I'll be leaving the city for the outskirts (western side) of Reynoldsburg.
Professionally I'm really interested in community development. Personally, I'm interested in sustainable living and development. And, as my username suggests, I play the wonderful great highland bagpipe. I look forward to interacting with folks on the site.

Hi,
My name is Eric and I have been visiting this site for ummm a long while. I have recently moved back to Columbus (Grandview) from DC about 6 months ago. I really like certain things Columbus has to offer; smallish feel, walk-able neighborhoods, access into various "scenes"/activities in the city. At the same time I want to see/help/promote certain things see lacking/at times holding back the city; a better urban framework, real public transportation, a safe bicycle city. I lived in both DC and NYC for the better part of the last 4 years. I enjoy living in large urban cities however dislike much of the congestion and pretension these cities have. I think smaller cities (Columbus) are primed to become the new urban core. I want to join the urban revolution in Columbus and I see this site as the epicenter of the current urban discourse.
Also (pipe dream) would love to see Columbus turn into the Copenhagen of North America :)

Hi, I will be moving to Columbus in the next couple months & I'm very glad to have this site since I've actually never been to Ohio (!)- I'm originally from Florida and have lived in Washington, DC for the past six years. I'm interested in anything bike- or dog-related. I'm hoping to visit in the next couple weeks to start looking for an apartment; any suggestions on dog-friendly rentals are very welcome. I'm looking forward to learning more about Columbus through this site to ease my moving jitters :)

I'm moving to Columbus in the summer - my partner will be teaching at Otterbein and we have a 5 year old. I'm a teacher and have a children's theatre company that I'm hoping to bring to Columbus. (magicandmayhemtheatre.com)
I'm coming out to visit in April to check out neighborhoods and schools and am just trying to get the lay of the land...hoping to find a walkable neighborhood with great architecture (can't believe how beautiful German Village is!), community spirit and a school for a creative kid...hoping it's not too much to want all in one place!

Hey gang, I'm Scot! I work for the State by day and play drums/sing with a band by night. I'm an enthusiast of craft booze, homebrewing, good coffee, and local establishments. I grew up in Circleville, lived in Toledo for most of my 20's, and was overwhelmed with joy when I finally had the chance to move to Columbus (Clintonville) in 2008. I truly love this city and get excited whenever I hear about new developments. The fact that there have been more new microbreweries/bars/restaurants opening lately than what I've been able to keep up with is certifiably awesome in my book.
CU has been, by far, my favorite source for all things local. I'm looking forward to being an active part of the ongoing conversation. Keep up the great work guys!

I am a co-editor of WeOurHeroes.com which is a Columbus based website. WOH started in September of 2012 and has had great success now. We are a platform for the arts, as well as a marketing machine.
We have rasied over $2500 at one event via donations to give to the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer. We also held a toy drive collecting hundreds of toy that went to seven local families in need! We hold events like Speed Dating, and Flag Football Tourney...
