Hi I am Laura! I am a 34 year old Marine wife. My husband and I relocated as he is a Wounded Warrior and he wanted to be "home". This is all new to me because I have lived in North Carolina for the last 8 years. Military spouses are used to moving around a lot but in his case it wasn't too much! Now we are here and I am finding it hard to meet people. I am not big into the bar scene and in military towns it's very easy to meet people! Anyone who would like to chat or has any advice on things we can do in the area it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm a 10-year Columbusonian, longtime Columbus Underground reader, & great admirer of the site. C.U. is by far the most informative online source for info about life in C-bus, especially arts, culture, neighborhoods, and food. Keep up the great work!

Hello all!
I've been in Columbus since about 2002. I came to OSU and got an accounting degree. I also play in a band called The Olde Souls and the Makeshift Band. This is my first visit to columbusunderground.com so I'm just kind of feeling things out.

I don't think I've introduced myself on CU before. I've been reading for over a year, but started commenting about eight months ago.
Born in Detroit and moved to Dublin at six months old, got a degree from OU in Athens and moved to Downtown Columbus as soon as finances made it possible. I love living downtown and I love Columbus. I love living an urban lifestyle and I'm obsessed with mass transit and high-speed rail. Three of my siblings live in Chicago, one is teaching/learning in New Brunswick, and another lives in Clintonville.
I've travelled to Europe on three separate occasions, have been to many different cities within the States, and I am proud to say that I truly believe that there is something special happening in Columbus that you won't find in any other city. If we jump onboard with transit expansion, I could easily see myself staying here long term.
I'm a Blue Jackets fan and am currently employed with Abercrombie & Fitch in New Albany.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this great community!

I'm Nick and I first moved down to Columbus in the fall of 2006 to complete my undergrad at OSU. I'm 24 and originally lived in a small town in NW Ohio with a lot of family backing in business ownership and real estate, but I was always more interested in health and wellness as a profession. With that said, I have a great appreciation for old architecture and am more inclined to purchase one of the original old Victorian homes around Schiller Park or on Neil Avenue than a new home in suburbia.
During my college years, it was exciting and very difficult at the same time, but interesting to learn about the real estate, crime, and development of the area in the time while I was there. I started out living on the far east side of campus where it was less enthralling and more crime ridden, then moved to a place by the Gateway for myself, and finally finished off living in Harrison West on 2nd Ave...absolutely loved it down there...perfect location in proximity to walking distance to Goodale Park, downtown, events downtown, small restaurants, Neil Ave., Grandview, etc. Unfortunately, due to roommate issues, I had to leave Columbus, but am interested in moving back this spring.
I stumbled across Columbus Underground while looking for information on a mass amount of projects that I saw going up in the city. After being gone since last July for Red, White, and Boom; I was about mind blown to see how much stuff was going up around the city. CU was very helpful in helping me understand what was going up in some of these construction sites I had seen. I think it's unreal the amount of change I had seen just in my 4-5 years I had been in Columbus, but would like to move back to Columbus as it's one of the few cities in the Midwest that is really booming with excitement and development. I can't imagine what it's like for somebody that has been around since the Mid-80s when the Short North revitalization began and was somewhat the beginnings of all this change. At any rate, I am always into learning more, sharing knowledge, or just bantering, so I figured I would sign up to check some things out on the website. It's a welcome addition and a nice resource for old and new Columbusites alike.

As a side note, I'm actually 25. That's how you know you are getting old when you can't even remember your age. XD

G'day fellow Columbus Undergroundians!
Wow this feels a bit like a blind date where I really would like to make a great impression. Lets see...err... umm.. My name is Colin, and I've been haunting CU for gosh, several years now. Why it's taken this long for me to register I havn't a clue.A Bit about myself: I grew up in Worthington, subsequently attended CCAD and am now a second year law student at Capital University. My passions include urban development, real estate, culture, and bringing public art to the city streets. Hope to speak with all of you soon.
Cheers,
ColinPosted 3 months ago # -

Hello all, I am Brock Miracle a 21 year old student attending Ohio University. After receiving a job offer in Columbus when i graduate in June, i started researching info about Columbus and have been following CU for about 2 months now. Before reading CU, downtown areas as well as urban development fascinated me, but after following this thread i have almost developed an obsession (not good since i am yet to graduate and should be working on a research paper at the moment, procrastination at its finest). I am from a small town(Byesville, OH), and greatly look forward to moving to Columbus. I am still currently in the process of trying to find an apartment and hope to inhabit the Short North/Downtown area. Well, thanks for all of the insight so far and i look forward to joining you all in the coming months!
