you are true, that is going to take place next week, i am not sure how they are looking at it, because not to mention the liquor store was open and the pharmacy was open as well... but i know they are going to test the buck id,,, to make sure they work..

If you hear any information about when the additional retail will be constructed, let us know! I'm sad that I'll be moving out of the area shortly after this store opens, it looks like it's going to be top notch!

i know they are building two building so far... not sure if they have any more bids..

I was told when market district was getting ready to open, the people of the community received invites to check it out first. I wonder if krogers will do the same.

I stumbled upon this discussion, while trying to find out something about the store this evening. I agree with all of you that commended osharpiv. He is a stellar employee and I am thrilled that he is working for me.

To answer some of the questions that I've seen, Grand Opening is in fact on July 26th at 9:00 am. Ribbon cutting will be at that time. There will be several events between 4:00 and 6:00 pm that evening and other events throughout the week.

In regards to the lack of quality Scotch; osharpiv was partially correct in that we did receive the liquor that was located on 5th Ave. Orders are initially based on what was previously sold at that location. If there is a specific Scotch that you are looking for, please feel free to talk to one of the attendants so that we can have it brought in for you. We do our best to find products that customers are looking for.

As far as Ohio produced liquors go, we do carry OYO Vodka (and I wish we would hurry up and carry the OYO Whiskey as well).

In addition to the Liquor store, the Short North Kroger will have many new things to offer that were not offered at the old store. These include but are not limited to: Sushi, a Bistro area, Flower shop, Service Meat and Seafood, as well as more registers to speed up checkout while still delivering exceptional customer service.

It truly is a beautiful store inside and out, and I can not wait for it to be open and enjoyed by a most deserving community.

Just curious if someone could answer whether or not this Kroger deli will carry Boar's Head products like the Brewers Yard Kroger?

Yes, We Will Carry Boar's Head, :) you will have to come and buy some and tell me how it taste since I've never had it..

Hello and good afternoon, I do not know if you guys are counting, but I sure am, 6 days left to go until the new short north Kroger is open... I will see you all when you come In and leave the building due to the fact that I am one of yours truly front end cashiers,,, hope all got there special coupons, which came in the mail, nice and brown, make sure you look at the date really well to make sure you have not missed the dead line(during the week of the grand opening) i know one is only good on wed, the other Tuesday ..etc.etc..but they are some nice deals.... i like how the store inside blends in with the artistic look of the short north,, a special place to visit during gallery hop..

New Kroger Opens in Weinland Park

The long awaited grand opening of the new Short North Kroger located at 1350 North High Street takes place today at 9am. The new store, located in the Weinland Park neighborhood, features a wide variety of new modern grocery amenities. We spoke yesterday with Beth Wilkin, Advertising Manager at Kroger to find out more.

i would like to know how much the weekly revenue at the Neil Ave Giant Eagle drops this week. even if everyone who shops there reverts back, they have to be taking a massive hit this week as everyone checks out the new Kroger.

i went in right before noon today and it was packed. i think they have it staffed today with literally hundreds of employees from around the region. i only needed basics and had to be quick, but the layout and variety seems promising.

one thing that did catch my attention is that they laid out some fine looking green sod along the corner of Neil and King. That makes me assume the outlot development is not happening anytime soon.

I believe that's often referred to as "Economic Development". ;)

A: The additional retail area is still planned for the northwest corner of the lot and development is ongoing. At this time we do not have a completion date or timeline available.

Man, you aren't kidding! It seemed like every second person in there was an employee.

And, it's definitely one hell of an improvement. There were more than a few items there that I want and can't find in the VV Giant Eagle.

Truth be told, which grocery I'll go to most in the long term will probably be based on whichever proves to have the quickest checkout lines. The VV Eagle suuuucks for this... soooo sloooow.

Went for lunch today ....... amazing store. Sushi was super fresh and I loved being able to sit, eat, and look out the window onto high street.

Agreed on the window lunch spot! I wasn't even looking for that. A great resource for people working in the area who want to eat lunch away from their desk/staff lounge but don't have the time to eat in a Short North restaurant. The tables by the windows facing High are a great spot.

Today was definitely, definitely bustling. This store is a fantastic addition to the area. Like others, I thought, "Hmm, Giant Eagle on Neil will feel this."

The windows would not have been part of the development, except for the need to meet the Urban Commercial Overlay standards in the Columbus Zoning Code. I personally cannot think of another modern grocery store that has that type of visablity on a street. In fact most windows in a Kroger store are in their entry atrium spaces, with no visablity into the store at all. Bravo to Kroger ... maybe they have a new model to work from ...
