Anyone know a good (cheap) DJ for a wedding? My friend is looking for one.
Don't worry it's not for me :)
Thanks!!

'Wedding DJ's' are very expensive and not so great in my opinion. For my wedding, I made playlists on my ipod (cocktail playlist, dinner playlist, post-dinner playlist (and separate playlists for the special dances) and wrote up instructions on which playlists to play when and enlisted the help of a family member to be responsible for playing the appropriate lists at the appropriate times. The stereo equipment was courtesy of my dad, but your friend could rent stereo equipment on the cheap. It was a bit of work on my end to put all the music together but it worked out awesome and we had all of our very favorite and unique music incorporated into our reception, minus people's horrible song requests and DJ's bad random picks. Oh, and it was cheap....as in free.
Got any specific places where you can rent the gear cheaply? Some friends of mine are taking this iPod playlist approach to their wedding in June and they've asked me to help them find the amp/speakers.
How cheap? $300?
@turbo, depending on the size of the event, minimal equipment is really needed - a few speakers on stands, an amp, a wireless mic. I don't have any specific places I can recommend in Columbus for equipment rental, but, I imagine there are plenty of places where you can and I'm quite certain it would be less than $300.
thanks! Yeah I suggested this since I have a ton of music and we do this already for the OSU tailgate but she wants a DJ.
Needs moar Black Eyed Peas.
Tony Canovi is a friend of mine from the past. Not sure about prices, but worth checking into -- http://capitolcitysound.com/about.htm
I have a friend that DJs weddings, he's also the guy that does Excessss Karoake here in town.
Not sure on his prices, but his site is http://www.davecasto.com. He also has a full lighting set-up that he brings along.
I am doing a wedding with Capitol City Sounds this summer but haven't used them before.
I often recommend Team DJ (ask for Todd) and Ryan Smith.
