Seriously, I'm moving away if this doesn't quit. I'm in a freaking AIR CONDITIONED HOUSE sweating my balls off because it can't outpace this ridiculousness outside.
Antarctica looks good.

The heat index was 105 here in Atlanta yesterday.
Nothing like having your AC go out at work for 2 days. It's been blowing 94 degree air.. Good times, good times.
come down to Houston to visit...we're at 110 w/ the index and it's humid as f*ck!!! :?
Well, I've eliminated two spots on my "moving away from this bullshit heat" list LOL!
Seriously though? It's 92 in my 2nd floor...and 71 on my first. I have a gable-less roof, so there's absolutely no attic ventilation at all and there's basically a giant box o' heat sitting on top of my bedroom and office.
I just had my head in the freezer for a second...not joking.
I think it's the beginning of the end. DOOMSDAY: DECEMBER 21, 2012!
Our upstairs A/C broke at our house, so I've been sleeping downstairs for the past two nights ... on the futon on the porch. Got another window air conditioner today, so at least one room upstairs is cool now--my bedroom--but that still means the bathroom is in the 90's. I could bathe Roman-style if I wanted: just sit around and sweat enough to wash myself off.
Today it's supposed to get up to 97 with the heat index up to 105.
If that sweating till your clean thing works, I'm spotless right now.

Have you looked into ventilating your attic? That would do so much to improve your quality of life and utility bills. Unless there is something funny going on with your roof, you can install some vents in a few hours. A whole house fan is more work but they are great. My house in college had one and it pulled so much air through that we never needed AC. Couldn't leave any loose papers laying around though, they got sucked up into the fan.
I need to put an attic vent in my new place. Its comfortable downstairs, upstairs is hot hot hot!
Also, they make facns that fit over your upstairs vent to pull the AC up to the 2nd floor. They help.
Fall is nice and right around the corner.
