Columbus Ohio is a hot bed for independent talent in music, art, and food. The city is an incredible birthplace for talent. The C-Bus music community is strong and works together unlike any other scene and people need to come see it in action.
The first annual “We Are Columbus” trip to Austin Texas during South By Southwest was in 2011 and showcased a diverse group of talent from our hometown which included a special performance by beloved singer- songwriter Tim Easton. The event in Austin highlighted some of our scene’s hardest-working independent bands from across the music spectrum. We set the date, raised the funds, and rocked Austin’s face off! Showing our city off to the rest of the world was gratifying and for many of the bands was a wise career move. Representitives from major record labels, lawyers, booking agents, and fans were treated to the Columbus sound and it made an impact. An unexpected surprised was having many former Ohioans come out to see the show. At one point there was even a familiar chant of “O-H...I-O” coming from the crowd.
It is time to recreate this event and we need your help! With your help we can help reduce some of our costs including travel, promo, lodging for 15 bands, live audio, food. Please donate to our Kickstarter fund even if it's just at a low level, any bit helps! Once you donate please send this to 5 friends, with just 10 bucks from 500 people we will reach our goal.
Columbus is bubbling over with creative talent and truly coming into its own. The We Are Columbus – Ohio By Southwest is just one of the many, many ways artists from our great town are doing to help move us forward and into the limelight. The 2012 Showcase will be held in Austin on March 16th at The Treehouse Pub right on 6th street in the middle of all the action.
