Really, it pains me to write this because I am a HUGE fan of the Blue Danube AKA The Dube and given the proximity to our house we treat it like our cafeteria when we don't feel up to cooking up a meal, but I am about over them given recent events. We went in about a month ago and all of the taps had the tell-tale plastic cups covering them. "Hmmm, so it looks like your draft beers are out, eh....all of them?" We were told that there'd been some enormous campus thing or beer crawl or something and they were sold out for the weekend. We went back 2 weeks later...same situation. Now the story is that the draft system- whatever operates the kegs- is down and the owner doesn't want to spend the cash to get it fixed. To make matters worse, they were out of a number of favored bottled beers since that's the only hoppy option. Been back two more times since and still no draft beer, lousy bottle selection and you can tell the staff is getting frustrated having to make explanations. To husband's dismay they discontinued PBR tallboys somewhat recently too. Anybody else been in there/work there and know what's up? Any hope of draft beer there anytime soon?

Want a draft beer? Maybe you shouldn't do the Dube...

Hope it's not a cash flow problem. Not a good sign.

Bummer. The Dube is an institution... hope they can pull it together.

Blue is out, green is trendier. They should re-name it the Green Danube!

Last time I was there, I circumvented the beer issue altogether by sticking to Jack and coke.
I love the Dube though...made many fond and bizarre memories there

I go to get my fries n gravy fix. Curse my Canadian heritage, lucky I have one place that can satisfy my cravings.

Nothing beats dollar burger night.
And the last two times I was there, a PBR rep was sitting at the bar, and all PBR was free for everyone.
I learned that after I already ordered a PBR. That's loyalty.

And by the way, I never knew PBR even had reps.
I should apply.

They have POUTINE????!!?! with real cheese kurds? or just cheeze whiz? or any cheese at all with the fries & gravy? NEED DEETS!

Not poutine (still need to try it), but the next best thing. Fries slathered and dripping with the gravy of you choice. You can bet I was excited to discover at least one place south of the border where I wouldn't be looked at funny.
Now we just need a place serving back bacon.

Oh yes, we met a PBR rep last Friday at Tip Top. She gave us lots of 24oz koozies which I LOVE!!!
I think it would be fun to do for a year or so, but then I'd be over it.

haven't been since before the smoking ban... I would guess that place is odd without that haze in the air.

You know, PBR pretty much sticks exclusively to reps/promotions and small sponsorships (Ohio Roller Girls, for example). I've never seen a rep, but we talk about PBR a lot in my marketing classes. Compared to other large brewers, PBR's marketing budget is pretty much non-existent.
The prevailing theory is this: the people who like PBR hate advertising. It's popular to say that PBR is for people who desire a no-frills, "retro-chic" beer.
