There's a collection drive for plastic flower pot & tray (and styrofoam) recycling on Saturday, June 19, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Vivian Hall parking lot, 2121 Fyffe Road (southwest corner of Lane Avenue and Fyffe Road on the OSU campus). They need volunteers to staff it. Attached is the appeal.
Dear Recycling Friends,The OSU Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens will host a plastic flower pot & tray recycling event on Saturday, June 19, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Vivian Hall parking lot, 2121 Fyffe Road (southwest corner of Lane Avenue and Fyffe Road on campus). I am attaching a flyer with details of the event.
This is the first time that Chadwick Arboretum is hosting the event, and we are partnering with Phoenix Recycling and SWACO (but there is plenty of room for your group to join us too). Our goal for our 6-hour recycling event is to collect a semi truck load of horticultural plastic and keep it out of the landfill. In addition to recycling (or trading) plastic pots and trays, we will also take clean, non-food grade Styrofoam such as packing peanuts and TV packing forms. To do this we will need lots of hands, and lots of pre-event publicity. So, please distribute this widely.
Volunteers are needed to route vehicles through the parking lot, unload cars, keep traffic moving, sort plastics into appropriate bins, and load them into the semi truck, etc.
How you, your friends, and your clubs can help:
Volunteer to help on Saturday, June 19, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. (this is a rain or shine event!).
Add the attached flyer to your web site or email it to your colleagues and friends.
Help distribute flyers of information to local garden stores and big box stores that sell plants.
Spread this information widely. Thanks for your help!
