The Columbus Zoo Docent Association (CZDA) is looking for enthusiastic people, ages 21 and older, interested in becoming docents at the #1 Zoo in America! Those interested in learning more about becoming a docent volunteer should attend one of the following open houses:
· Sunday, November 7, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
· Saturday, November 13, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The word “docent†comes from the Latin docere, “to teach,†but docents come from many walks of life, ranging from young professionals to the recently retired. Docents are important members of the Zoo community. They educate Zoo visitors about our animals and conduct scheduled tours of the Zoo.
If you are accepted as a docent, you will participate in training comprised of nine weeks of Saturday classes and on-the-scene experiences. Docents volunteer a minimum of 50 hours a year, which includes continuing education.
Being a docent is truly an interesting and rewarding volunteer opportunity. For those who would like to attend one of the open houses please RSVP to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium at 614-645-3483 or to vicepresident@czda.org.
